The Queer Avengers group took exception to Greer’s brand of what it termed “transphobic feminism” and delivered the glitter in a move more often seen deployed on homophobic politicians in the US."

What they’re suggesting here is that the duly elected legislative representatives of Uganda, the cream of Ugandan society, cannot be responsible for their own [legislative] actions – that they adopted legislation because a white evangelical came and said something to them."

  1. why does GOProud even bother existing? their agenda has not a single gay rights issue in it-not a one. all it contains is the standard GOP agenda of reducing taxes, repealing obamacare, blah, blah, blah.

  2. "The so-called “gay agenda” has been defined narrowly by the gay left. In contrast to the approach of the left, GOProud’s agenda emphasizes conservative and libertarian principles that will improve the daily lives of all Americans, but especially gay and lesbian Americans."

Thanks GOProud, but the only ones who typically pull out the phrase "gay agenda" are the nutty right wingers you hang with. Our only agenda is equality, liberty, and justice for all. I see you managed to throw a few gay bones in there, nicely tucked in such that they don't offend any of your conservative friends. Too bad you didn't have the option of using a smaller font such that your whispering can be implied.

  3. GOProud continues to prove gay liberals right.

GOProud's agenda is to spend another year apologizing for being gay, apparently, and sucking up to their bigoted families and communities by reminding them that they have no testicles, and thus, are never going to man-up and "shame the GOP" by talking about, promoting, and demanding Equality as LGBT people.

Seriously, they're such wimps and such cowards. Their 2012 agenda is hilariously sad.

  4. I noticed they put "fighting global extremists" in there. Does that mean they wouldn't endorse Santorum if he won the nomination?

    Posted by: kpo5 | Mar 15, 2012 3:51:45 PM

  5. No, "Extremists", by GOProud's definition, are leftists who aren't afraid of rainbows. or something.

they don't make much sense. sure, they'll go to a State where marriage Equality has been attained through the work and activism of Liberals, but they won't do any of that work themselves.

pity them - they were brought up to hate the very people who are responsible for their gay-@ss lives. that's gotta be a massive sore spot.

  7. The st, patrick's day parade has been long discredited as being the platform for the Ancient order of Hibernian Bigots.....our President refused to lead it ....anyone with any dignity refuses to lead or participate in it.
Ireland is more gay than these old farts realise or know........and the parade is just a platform for the Knights of St. Columbanus and all the other right wing intolerant nut cvases.

    Vive le differance !

  8. I see Madonna is still working down her list of controversial issues. But it is a tried and true formula to get attention, even though it is fake and calculated.

  9. So, I decided to look through the tweets of the idiots who said they would kill their children if they were gay. This is basically what I gathered from reading those tweets:

1)Most of those who responded were male. Not a surprise. I'd say about 90% were between 12-20 years old. I'd venture around 60% were from rural areas.

2)I'd say around 70% had some mention of God in one of their tweets. So, I guess being good Christians, they feel being homophobic makes them Godly.

3)Almost all of them were either athletes or the types who think using the n-word and other terms like "bro" and "homie" are cool. You know the type, the suburbanites who act urban and thuggish. Basically, douchebags.

4)None of them seemed to understand why they were being criticized for their hateful tweet.

So basically, we're talking about the bottom of the barrel. Total idiots. The stupidity was painful to read. I should care more about what these people have to say, but honestly, these kids will either grow up and grow out of their stupidity or just be stupid forever. Not really worth any concern.

  11. Insurance is socialism, we all put money in and those that need care pull money out. When you try and remake it into a Capitalistic model it fails. Profit is made by denying care and not providing service to those who cost the most money. If each of us had our own insurance coverage then a profit making company would be insane not to cancel those that are ill. For profit insurance is illogical

  12. @ Francis - thanks for summarizing the tweets... I don't think I could have stomached reading them. I love how Gawd-fearing X-tians love talking about how abortion is so terrible, but if their own kid was gay, they'd snuff 'em. Perverse logic, no? All life, even unborn life, is sacred, therefore, don't abort fetuses under any circumstances... unless it's gay, then you don't deserve to live. WTF?

    Posted by: graphicjack | Mar 15, 2012 5:30:09 PM

  13. @Francis-
I also read the tweets and it's so obvious by their english writing skills that 90% are retarded or seriously mentally impaired.
Anyone who would advocate killing a child and their own child at that really needs mental health treatment. Since most of them won't even graduate high school or contribute anything worthwhile to society hopefully they will die young of drug overdoses or while serving time in prison with their 'bros' before they bring any children into the world for them to abuse and torture with their sick and demented minds filled with hate, bigotry, stupidity and ignorance. They consider themselves good christians though? Religion=DEATH.

  17. I concur with Francis on the 100 Homophobic tweets. Most of them are young, stupid kids who think mouthing off is funny. Still I one of the kids, he was probably 15 or 16, whose feed I read spent the better part of three days defending his bigotry and demonstrating a profound ignorance on pretty much everything.

Posted by: Charles Lemos | Mar 15, 2012 7:11:32 PM

  18. To @Francis and the other folks who looked at the tweets about killing your gay kid -- while you looked at gender, age and education, you seemed to have overlooked one obvious demographic variable -- judging by twitter pics, 80% or more of the tweets from black men. Why is everyone ignoring that?

    Posted by: Sam | Mar 15, 2012 10:04:27 PM

  19. As long as there are morons and haters like these idiots threatening their unborn children, there will be a need for PFLAG, the Trevor Project, etc. What's really scary is knowing the number of kids and teens out there--thousands of them--who currently listen to this kind of crap every day from their "parents" who are supposed to love them and protect them and value them. I hope these future gay kids get away and have wonderful lives filled with love, and never have to speak to these awful people again.

    Posted by: Dback | Mar 16, 2012 12:16:53 AM

  20. @Sam- I noticed that elephant in the room too. In all of the discussions about the tweets, nobody seems to bring that up.

    Posted by: Rich | Mar 16, 2012 6:42:25 AM

  21. Oh, how it must sting some of you to have the truth spouted at you by uber-feminist Germaine Greer. Some of you want so desperately to be women....and many of you who don't nevertheless try your utmost to model your behavior on them......and in so doing, you often cite feminist philosophy as justification for your behavior.

But those of you who do are just exactly what Greer calls you out as--"ghastly parodies"....who have nothing in common with real women and who never really get it right when it comes to how real women behave.

    And tragic people, to boot.

    Posted by: Rick | Mar 16, 2012 11:40:51 AM

  22. @sam because the increased homophobia in black communities is a side effect of the macho mentality used as a band aid for generations of systematic racism. And the easiest way to get rid of that is to help and listen to black activists trying to heal the wound their hate bleeds from, instead of complaining about their poor choice of band aid or adding another racist sterotype for them to overcome.

@rick let it go man, the feminists left Greer back in the second wave so they could help and be helped by marginalized women like trans women, and its worked out pretty good for them as far as votes/money/change are concerned. And you can do the same, just learn the difference between drag queens (gay men who play dress up) and trans men/women (people with odd junk and changed names) then bam you have an extra group voting for your rights and giving money to your groups. Heck the group who glittered Greer is made up of gay and trans people so there's proof that teamwork can get some things done.
