Your Augmented Future: VIDEO

Google shows off some potential uses for a set of augmented reality glasses:

The prototype version Google showed off on Wednesday looked like a very polished and well-designed pair of wrap-around glasses with a clear display that sits above the eye. The glasses can stream information to the lenses and allow the wearer to send and receive messages through voice commands. There is also a built-in camera to record video and take pictures.

Of course, it's not a new idea....

  1. Too much interconnectedness for me. I'd like to live a life free of constant information and messaging.

  2. this seems neat but i don't know if it's going to be something i'd want.

imagine a world where everyone in public is always talking to themselves or one where everyone expects to reach you whenever they want. i still remember a pre-cellphone era where you had to call somebody's home and leave a message.

  3. I love technology, and have been a software engineer for over thirty years, so on one hand I would like this. BUT, I have to ask myself, do I really want to make it even easier for the world's largest advertising company (which Google totally is) to augment my reality?

  4. Better that Google is doing this than Apple. I shudder to think how bland, impersonal and limited this would be if it was from them. Mind you im sure Apple will find a stupid patent somewhere that this 'infringes' and then claim they invented the whole thing.

  6. We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance if futile.
