  1. I remain skeptical about the Patz "confession". It wouldn't be the first time a suspect has broken under intense police pressure. Just as a point of interest: has anyone ever questioned the family's oft-repeated story about what happened to Etan?

  2. Not a good look for Channing Tatum to be dissing strippers. His comments splash water on any excitement over his movie, since be views strippers in such low regard.

  3. Seriously? What is going on with Bill 'Oval Office Fellatio' Clinton? Good lord, honey, first you spooge all over Monica's dress, get impeached, get charged with rape....what the hell is going on with these liberals who sex up women like they're a car parked in their garage? Gross. This war on women needs to stop. Sickening. Hillary is probably throwing up her lunch looking at this photo. Sick.

  4. ANONY6 Which is to say he held his own experience as a stripper before he became a dancer/actor in low regard.

  5. Alan: "War on Women"? Come on! Nice deflect on the GOP's record with women's issues as of late. What about all those conservatives that claim family values and end up resigning in disgrace over affairs with women or MEN! So, are they waging war on both women and men? These women were probably one of hundreds that took their picture with him at a PUBLIC event!

  6. Maybe try settling down, Alan? Ever try that?

    "Clinton was in the European country Wednesday at the Hotel de Paris for a gala to benefit the William J. Clinton Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation."

    He wasn't at a porn release party. He was at a BENEFIT. Three women asked to take a picture with him. Was he supposed to instinctively know they were porn stars?

  7. Furthermore, Alan, he didn't get impeached. The "morally upright" Newt Gingrich tried to impeach him--while screwing around with an intern I might add--but the Senate acquitted him.

  8. Paul Fussell's books have delighted me for a long time--especially CLASS. PF walked in the footsteps of H.L. Mencken describing the later 20th century manifestations of American boobery. Unhappily, like Mencken, he slipped a bit and BAD seemed to be merely nasty. I recommend all of his titles to Towleroad's book readers.

  10. I quote from another blogger re: the Alan Scott/Green Lantern character coming out. "Makes sense. His only weakness is wood." Personally, a fan of the Green Lantern's various incarnations and will probably buy my first comic book in ages if this is true.

  11. Green Lantern always looked gay and hot... Levi could still have a career in gay porn...the Brian and Nick video was funny

  14. "but you’re nothing — you’re just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit"

    Yeah, that never happens in ACTING... :/

    If a male stripper feels he looks like a fool, it's one of three things:
    * his own shame projected onto the audience
    * the wrong audience or venue
    * shoddy preparation

    I've seen strippers whose performances are worthy of admiration and respect that any gymnast or dancer or comedian would receive.

  15. Alan we can spot neocon concern trolls 5 miles away here at Towleroad, so save your energy for elsewhere. Between that and your previous false "Phelps loves Obama" comment, you're at least chuckle-worthy I guess.

    The Brian and Nick thing was cute.

  16. The original Green Lantern (Alan Scott) has 2 kids who become superheroes themselves (Jade and Obsidian) who have their own separate stories outside of Alan Scott's

    What's sad is; On comicbook blogs, some people are wondering how the 2 kids, now, could even have existed since their dad is gay. They don't know how DC will explain this.

    It seems these readers don't know that gay men do have sperm which can impregnate women just like straight men.

    It's odd what with all the strange science, mystical, and alien things one has to follow in comicbook stories, some readers can't fathom a gay guy willingly getting a woman pregnant.

  17. LOL....why would anyone get on Channing's case for speaking what's probably the truth? No actual disrespect for individual people who strip to make a buck per say, but seriously, people hold the profession in high regard?

    ================

    Etan Patz story is very sad, and there's a lot more like him unfortunately. I've little doubt a pedophile snatched him, assaulted him and killed him. I think most cops and prosecutors who worked on his case think a pedo named Perez [I think] who is now in his 70s and about to be released from a long prison sentence in NJ, is responsible. Who knows. This guy lived next to Etan's family and Hernandez worked at a bodega near by. WTF? What are the chances there were 2 Hispanic pedophiles living and working on the kid's block who could have targeted him?

  18. Re: Green Lantern -- if he's the character, it will be in a new book set on an alternate Earth where Alan Scott is a younger man who is just about to become Green Lantern. So it's pre-kids, and those two kids (one of whom was himself gay in the original continuity) may never exist.

  19. I love Alan Scott.

  20. This confession in the Patz killing seems really sketchy to me. He just happens to coincidentally spot and kill this kid on the first day he's walking to school? No planning? No other victims? It's not impossible, but it's a pretty extraordinary set of circumstances. I think a mentally ill guy making a false confession is at least as likely. Given the number of false leads in this case before, the police are smart to approach this spontaneous confession with skepticism.

    I think it's far more likely that Etan was killed by someone who knew him and was aware that he'd be walking to school by himself that day (perhaps someone who even suggested that he ask his parents for permission).
