Obama's Gay Marriage Support Led To YouTube Spike

ObamaMarriageABCPresident Obama's historic announcement that he supports same-sex marriage led to a deluge of YouTube videos and Google searches on the matter.

From Edge:

[The announcement] resulted in a record number of searches and a rush of users uploading videos on the subject. Gay marriage was also the most popular topic on YouTube’s news and politics category this week.

YouTube is owned by the online search giant Google, which saw a 458 percent increase in national searches for "Obama" and "gay marriage" between 10 am and 6pm the day Obama disclosed his views in an interview with ABC News.

American University communications professor Matthew Nisbit says the virtual surge can be attributed at least in part to the Millenial generation: "The heaviest users of video are people under the age of 25, and gay rights is one of the few political issues young people feel passionate about." Makes sense.

  2. It's only natural that having the president clearly state his endorsement for marriage equality is going to drive the conversation forward.

I understand the reasons he struggled with his conscience for keeping quiet over the past couple years (pretty sure he has felt it was right for a long time), but am disappointed that he didn't just get it out of the way a year or two ago, so the country could have more time to "evolve" on the issue before the 2012 elections.

He's still IMO one of the best presidents in history, one of the boldest, definitely the best for LGBT, and miles above Mittens. Should also be noted that given the sad shape Bush left the economy; the advancement of hate groups like the tea party, NOM, and FRC fighting progress on social issues; and a surge in religious organizations involving themselves in political affairs, he's had one of the most difficult terms.

  3. LED Bulbs Wholesale you will have to buy or build a 12 volt power supply. If you're handy, you can do it with a step-down transformer and a full-wave bridge rectifier. The power supplies are also sold in electronics supply houses.
