Please Ignore This
If you see the following prompt while visiting Towleroad, please ignore it. It's happening on quite a few other sites that use sitemeter as a traffic measuring tool and appears to be some sort of hacked phishing scam. They say they're working on it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I would also add that sitemeter sometimes makes the sites it's attached to load very, very slowly ...in windows 7 there's a small prompt on the bottom left that shows what's holding up the loading ... just a further thought ...

This isn't the only site that prompt has appeared in.

So I see my previous remark was deleted because it apparently didn't sit well with the moderators to inform the readers how to prevent themselves from being exposed to security flaws.
And yet, we have self-loathing bigots who regularly poison the discussion comments with their vitriol, but they're allowed to spew their hate speech in the interests of appearing "fair" and "open."
Nicely played, Towleroad. Is that the kind of service you want to provide to your loyal followers? In that case, I can get my gay news elsewhere, AND I can do it in a way that prevents me from ever having to see any of those stupid pop-up phishing scams.

Oh, and if THAT comment gets deleted too....let's just say you do NOT want to go up against me on this. I've been playing nice so far. There are plenty of ways to get my message across.
Suggesting that readers use NoScript to protect themselves from phishing attempts like these is not a crime and it's only doing YOU a favor by limiting your liability.

I have the "Ghostery" plug in for Chrome on my computer. And Sorry to say it, Towleroad has so many tracking sites on it that I dont even bother looking at it when I'm on my Phone. If I have less than outstanding signal strength? Towleroad is not loading. But it sure IS telling the entire world what I'm "trying" to do. With EVERY.SINGLE.CLICK.

Installing NotScripts (Chrome) and NoScript (Firefox) extensions work for me. Sorry to say Towleroad, but you have way too much hidden content bogging down my browsers and eating up my RAM.

Please ignore it?
It doesn't matter what's happening on other sites. You should have fixed it on this site. Presumably you do own it, right?
Also, I'm concerned about Atomic's claim that comments get deleted on this site. Is that true? On a supposed news and opinion blog, the silent removal of comments harms your credibility. Compare with YouTube, who has the integrity to leave a placeholder where a deleted comment once was.

I've had only one comment deleted, and it was on a subject like this. AT seems to be a bit sensitive about user privacy issues.
There are currently twenty tracking scripts on the main page of Towleroad. I think that may be down a bit from what it used to be.

@Charlie: It must be down a bit from what it used to be, TR, altho slower than most blogs, does seem a bit faster than it used to...on my Mac. However, on my 3G Droid it's abyssmal.

My AVG tracker blocker lights up like a Christmas tree on this site. There are currently NINE trackers it's blocking right now, as I type this.
I have read this site for a long, long time and it is my BIGGEST issue with Towleroad. I never directly link to information on this site anymore because of the intense load times and constant reload attacks.
I am a fan of this site. But seriously, there is no other blog or website that is as polluted as this one, or that takes longer to load, or in fact never even completely loads.
I used to double click the YouTube links to watch them because of the amount of "noise" prevented them from loading smoothly...
Sorry Andy, you really need to get on that...
I MUST USE AD/TRACKER BLOCKERS TO READ YOUR SITE!
Truly unfortunate. :( Sad emoticon.
