Stephen Colbert Defends Romney's 'Retroactive' Bain Retirement: VIDEO

Says Colbert: "Who knows? Who knows what's true? It's a simple case of 'He said, He filed SEC documents that contradicted what he said'."

  1. He is a Catholic spin doctor like some of the people you see in the media today.

  2. Note to Mitt Romney: Even though I have never worked for Bain, I hereby announce that as of today I have been on their payroll retroactively for the last ten years. Pay me.

  4. Mike, what you on about? Yes, Colbert is Catholic and even teaches a Sunday School class, but he's also one of the most consistently pro-gay voices on television, supports progressive causes, and mocks the GOP, Religious Right, AND the Pope/Catholic Church on a nightly basis. Granted, he does all this while posing as a conservative pundit himself but that's all part of his schtick. The Colbert Report is like Fox News viewed through a funhouse mirror.

Between Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert I'd say that Colbert is more pro-gay and possibly more liberal. He certainly comments on gay-interest stories more often.

  5. I think The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are great, they both show the absurdity in what the media says to spin it their way. They lampoon everyone, including themselves.

  6. Spot on. I honestly think you cannot be fully informed on the issues if you don't watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

  8. His spokesperson can't even keep a straight face explaining the retroactive retirement.

  9. This is going to be a very entertaining campaign season! The GOP are going to spin themselves into such a bind that no one will believe them.

I can't wait for Obama to lay into Romney during the debates.

  10. We on the progressive side have Colbert, Stewart and Louis Black; the republicans have Limbaugh and Beck. We have made out on that arrangement.

  11. Exactly, Andrew. You can win people over by making them laugh instead of preaching at them.
