Former Navy Chaplain Tells David Pakman And Wayne Besen He Can 'Exorcise' Gay People: VIDEO

DavidPakmanBesen

Progressive radio host David Pakman this week hosted former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, a man who says he can "cure" gay people, and activist Wayne Besen of Truth Wins Out, a group dedicated to fighting Klingenschmitt and others who prescribe "reparative therapy" for LGBT people.

As you may expect, sparks flew. After Klingenschmitt again claims he can "exorcise" same-sex desires, Besen calls the chaplain's brand of Christianity "voodoo." "It's a cult-like, bizarre notion that has nothing to do with real religion," he says.

  1. Is there really a large enough segment of the population that believes this stuff that we need to indulge him? It's difficult to watch even a minute of this, he's crazy, clearly, and I think the majority of Americans know that. Maybe I'm naive.

  2. @CHAD

In short? Yes, there is. A terrifyingly large portion of the U.S. population - about 82 million Evangelical Christians - agree with him at least in part.

  5. These witch doctors asshast only exist for these sorts of talk show interviews (hey, we need people to watch and people love crazy!)

Stupidity and ignorance are the biggest sins in the world today and this Chaplin (wonder if he quit or was forced out for being a loon) is the embodiment of ridiculousness.

  7. what should happen is that someone should call him out. Ask for him to perform his exorcise live on TV and see if he or she was "cured"!

  8. Gotta love it - this man, with the help of Jeebus, can "cure gay" - and yet all the prayers in the world won't cure cancers. leukemia in children. end famine. stop war.

Nope. Because Jeebus is too tied up with this hack, giving gay men a a taste for pu**y.

    fail.

i have a good friend who had three, yeah THREE, "gay exorcisms" performed on him starting around age 13. we're talking years of horrific physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his family and these, indeed, voodoo fu**ing cultists.

    it should be criminal.

  9. I'm glad Pakman has these people on. I think it's important that we gay people don't get lulled into thinking that everyone likes us and wants what's best for us. There are a lot of people who think like this, and though we who live in more accepting cities don't encounter them often, they are there and they are influential in their spheres.

  11. Religious mania is a woefully undertreated form of mental illness. Unfortunately those who suffer from it are more often than not likely to be given a public forum to display their illness. This must stop. These folks are no different than the sidewalk preachers selling fire & brimstone to all passersby. They deserve our pity & compassion & should be under care in a hospital, not on the airwaves.

  15. It is Christians like this clown who are possessed by Satan who harm children and other LGBT people in the name of his god. These anit-gay Christians and psychologist who torture and abuse gays using voodoo exorcism and torture using electric shock on LGBT people are criminals and need to be arrested for crimes against humanity and put in prison to keep them from harming another person in the name of "help". These anti-gay Christian psychiatrist and psychologist are saying they can help but the truth is they do more harm than anything else. Ted Lieu a California State Senator is trying to stop ex gay therapy (torture) from being done on children, please support him and get this law passed that stops these mad men from harming children by these anti-gay Christian psychiatric mad men.

  16. All christianity is voodoo. This former chaplain says he can exorcise the demons out of gays. Thats crazy. Even crazier Roman Catholic priests say they can change a piece of bread into the "body and blood, soul and divinity of jesus christ". Yep they claim that piece of bread is transubstantiated into the creator of the universe. I dare you to come up with anything crazier than that.
