Sununu Has A Habit Of Calling Obama 'Lazy': VIDEOS

SununuLazy

Former New Hampshire Governor and current Mitt Romney surrogate John Sununu is currently being criticized for calling President Obama "lazy" during an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell today.

"[The president] revealed his incompetence, how lazy and detached he is, how he has absolutely no idea how serious the economic problems of the country are, and how he has failed to even begin to address them," Sununu said about Obama's debate performance. Mitchell gave him an opportunity to clarify his remarks - "Did you really mean to call Barack Obama, the president of the United States, lazy?" -- and Sununu doubled-down.

"Yes," he said. "I think you saw him admit it the night before when he delivered the pizzas [to staff on Monday]. He said, you know, 'They're making me do this work.' He didn't want to prepare for this debate. He's lazy and disengaged."

"Lazy and disengaged" is almost the exact wording Sununu used during a September 24th appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News program, when he called President Obama "lazy" and "detached". He reiterated those remarks three days later, on Gretchen Van Susteren's show, telling the host that slain Libya Ambassador Chris Stevens "suffered the consequences" of poor security in Benghazi.

Watch from today and the Hannity appearance AFTER THE JUMP.

  6. He may as well have referred to the President as Aunt Jamima or Uncle Ben. However, the cooking that Obama needs to do is Romney's goose.

  8. From Wikipedia:

"As White House Chief of Staff (under George W. Bush), Sununu reportedly took personal trips, for skiing and other purposes, and classified them as official, for purposes such as conservation or promoting the Thousand Points of Light. The Washington Post wrote that Sununu's jets "took him to fat-cat Republican fund-raisers, ski lodges, golf resorts and even his dentist in Boston." Sununu had paid the government only $892 for his more than $615,000 worth of military jet travel. Sununu said that his use of the jets was necessary because he had to be near a telephone at all times for reasons of national security. Sununu became the subject of much late-night television humor over the incident. Sununu worsened the situation shortly afterwards when, after leaking rumors of financial difficulties in his family, he traveled to a rare stamp auction at Christie's auction house in New York City from Washington in a government limousine, spending $5,000 on rare stamps. Sununu then sent the car and driver back to Washington unoccupied while he returned on a corporate jet. In the course of one week, 45 newspapers ran editorials on Sununu, nearly all of them critical of his actions."

    ----

At the recommendation of George W. Bush, Sununu resigned his White House post on December 4, 1991.

  10. Can't view this...I made myself a promise on Jan 1st. 2012 that I would never let my eyes come in contact with hannity again. He's vulgar and boring...and I won't subject my lovely blue orbs to living landfill...ever!
So, I'll miss a few good laughs, I'm sure, but I'll also never again lose my lunch to this white trash.

  11. well, first he is not a native born U.S. citizen; he was born in Cuba to Palestinian parents who were Greek Orthodox; he not only cause finance problems using tax payer money for ski trips, etc as mentioned above, but he also caused a problem George H.W. when he took a stance saying that Zionism is not the same as racism from which he had to complete backdown and give his full support to Israel, so why should anyone listen to anything he says?

my favorite though is from his Wiki bio ---> "In recent years, he moved to Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. He and his wife were subsequently elected as the town's honorary hog reeves and poundkeepers" must have been the resemblance...

  12. goodgod...if he thinks Obama is lazy what MUST he have thought of Bushboy?

Posted by: Daniel Berry, NYC | Oct 4, 2012 6:30:24 PM

  13. @Daniel Berry, NYC: he probably thought nothing. Bush was their guy, when it is one of their own they don't care. But they sure as heck like to point out the perceived failings they see in other wich are really the failings they have themselves. The oldest GOP trick, accuse the other guy of the exact same thing you are doing/have done. Just like children do.

  16. Next, he'll call Obama shiftless.

  17. Let's call a spade a spade: this is (another!) racist dog whistle attack by Sununu. What a detestable man.

    Posted by: Ryan | Oct 4, 2012 9:45:50 PM

  18. Isn't it possible that Sununu really meant just that he thought Obama was .... lazy? Other presidents have also been accused of this. I remember once one of Reagan's aides (and this is when he was still president) said something to the effect of "sometimes we really need to talk to him about important business and all he wants to do is talk about his old movie days." I know that right-wing websites have been criticizing Obama for the amount of time he plays golf, so Sununu isn't the only one making the claim. However, that doesn't mean that the claim is true. Conservatives are perplexed at Obama's support in the polls and are grasping for things to attack him on. I'm surprised that Obama hasn't sued for libel considering all the times he's been called a "Marxist" by respected conservatives who know perfectly well what a REAL Marxist is.

  19. Yes Mary, but where was Sununu's faux "concern" when George W. became known as the President who took the most vacation time?

    Posted by: YEP | Oct 4, 2012 11:42:45 PM

  20. *That should read "George H.W. Bush" that he was Chief of Staff under.

  21. You know, I never quite get it when someone with a double-chin calls someone else "lazy". Pot, meet kettle!

  22. John Sununu: Concern Troll

    Posted by: FuryOfFirestorm | Oct 5, 2012 12:32:52 AM

  23. Sununu and his father were right-wing bigots and anti-Semites. What I do not understand why media always use idiots like him for anything, let alone as pundits.

  24. "Zionism is not the same as racism from which he had to complete backdown and give his full support to Israel"

Something is very wrong with this quotation. One should delete the "not", because that's a stock claim of Arabs. It was passed as UN resolution 3379 (passed in 1975) and revoked by resolution 4686 (passed in 1991).

  25. Between Sununu or Gingrich, I cannot decide who has been more blatantly racist when speaking about Mr. Obama.

The next time I run into John Sununu, remind me to punch his f*cking lights out.
