  6. I'm guessing psychedelics and frottage

  7. This is part of his training with artist Marina Abramović (The Artist is Present), learning her technique. I find it all very interesting.

  8. This guy is getting really annoying...He's a little over-exposed and now seems more of a famewhore with all of these stunts. James contrary to your belief, there actually is such a thing as too much media exposure, and I really think you're pushing it now. If too much publicity almost destroyed Ben Affleck, who is much more manly and handsome than you (and never stooped to your silliness), you really need to check yourself. Get back to acting and leave these shananigans to others struggling to get legit publicity.

  9. "Get back to acting and leave these shananigans to others struggling to get legit publicity."

You sound ridiculous. James Franco is simply studying a well documented technique of being fully present. If you understood anything about acting you would might be asking other well known 'celebrities' why they don't study and hone their craft anymore.

Fame is a vapor, and also nothing James Franco has really ever truly been about.

  10. Interesting. Looks like he was exploring paint you know, the way artists do, and thought there were some interesting images in it.

I don't think posting strange images to your whosay account really qualifies as "media attention" and an artist putting themselves out there is not exactly being a fame whore.

But then, I am not an expert on fame whoring, like some of the other commentators on this site.

    :-D

  11. @Bwayfan: if you knew him, you would laugh at your comment. Ask some of the artists who have worked with him. The artist will want to do, say, a photo shoot and request an elephant. And Franco will say, Great! Let's also get fire breathers, clowns, archers, strippers, monkeys, antique cars, an active volcano, and a bunch of valuable things to destroy.

He longs to be an artist, but without his name recognition he'd be nowhere. His idea of art is excess, and yes he certainly likes attention. He's a nice guy, but he isn't without ulterior motives.

  12. Enough, already, of James Franco. I understand that the folks at Towleroad worship his dirty drawers, but a lot of us don't. In my opinion, he's an attention-starved brat with sexual issues.

  13. "I understand that the folks at Towleroad worship his dirty drawers, but a lot of us don't."

Then the lot of you are welcome to start your own blog. Oh, that's right... you have one and no one reads it.

  15. Um, Does this not remind anyone else of 30 Rock? Kimiko?

  16. It's your life, James. Do what you want when you want to. If you have the wherewithal to post what you do where it can be seen, then more power to you. If people like it, fine. If not, that's OK, too. It is we who choose to view. I think you're fantastic, James. And, remember, only the mediocrities of this world deign to criticize that which they don't understand. You know what you're doing even if they don't.

  17. Poor Kimiko-Tan. What a way to go.

  18. They say that only the mediocrities of this world deign to criticize that which they don't understand.

I must own up to my mediocrity then, because I have no idea what the hell is going on here.

But then this is art. Does anyone but the artist ever fully understand? Are we all mediocrities? No, only the ones who form an opinion. Or rather, only the ones who have voiced the opinion they have inevitably formed.

  19. The lovely Mr Franco should go back to getting naked for the movies...the last two shots look disturbingly intriguing.

  22. "James Franco is simply studying a well documented technique of being fully present."

and nothing says 'fully present' like taking time out to post pics online

  23. it's a shame he hasn't yet put forth an original thought into the culture-at-large, tho perhaps when one hires assistants to feed one their ideas originality is still-born.
he should embrace his acting career, but now he's burned his brand past redemption.
    he's done.

  24. I'm an artist and once had a show with James Franco in LA (before his film breakthrough). He is a very, very good artist in my opinion and I was impressed by how uninhibited and intelligent his work was. BTW, my painting studio has looked way more trashed than this :) I think creating a mess is all a part of the freeing process of putting emotions onto canvas.
