Texas Congressman: 'I Wish To God' CT Principal Had M4 To 'Take Out' Shooter: VIDEO

Gohmert

Talking about the Connecticut school shooting on Fox News Sunday this morning, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas told host Chris Wallace that he wishes slain school principal Dawn Hochsprung, who died lunging at gunman Adam Lanza, had an M4 assault rifle during the attack.

Said, Gohmert, "And, hearing the heroic story of the principal lunging, trying to protect. Chris, I wish to God she would have had an M4 in her office locked up. so when she heard gunfire she pulls it out and she didn't have to lunge heroically with nothing in her hands, But she takes him out, takes his head off before he could kill those precious kids."

You can watch video and comment for yourself AFTER THE JUMP.

Meanwhile, none of the 31 pro-gun Senators asked to discuss the shooting on Meet the Press accepted the invitation. Said host David Gregory, "We reached out to all 31 pro-gun rights Senators in the new Congress to invite them on the program to share their views on this subject this morning. We had no takers."

  1. Gohmert is always good for an inflammatory quote. He gets off on the attention his hateful rhetoric gets him. As with Westboro people, they feed off our indignation.

  2. So long as we're inventing action-movie derived bullsh*t scenarios, why not one of those robot forklift suits Sigourney Weaver had in Aliens? Then she could have crashed into the classroom, said "Stay away from her, you b*tch!" and saved the day.

That makes every bit as much sense as his scenario does.

  3. Just perfect!! Promote more gun ownership while pretending that things could have been so much different if the now massacred school Principal had a gun in her office.

Until of course, the next time a crazed SCHOOL PRINCIPAL opens fire on unsuspecting innocent students after whatever the f-*ck reason she/he might find to get revenge on yet more innocent people.

Of course more guns is the correct answer! How "people" like this guy are "our elected representatives" is beyond any decent and civilized reasoning.

  4. Madness! This individual killed innocent children with a gun bought by his mother (likely to "defend" herself). Guns don't distinguish who they kill. We have this sad precedent as prof.

  6. If we made an effort to expose these guys and their insane comments during their election cycles, they wouldn't be in office. The crazy statements have been recorded, the pictures of dead children have been taken. Now is the time for the political ad to be made.

  7. Where is "thou shalt not kill" in all this God talk? For Heaven's sake. These folks aren't Christians, they're liars, manipulators and if anything, anti-Christian.

  8. The blood of all those children are is on the hands of those gun supporters.....all of them......and most especially on the hands of the politios bought by NRA blood money.

  9. Considering that he was wearing body armor and she likely would be in the disadvantage of not expecting or knowing his precise location, in addition to being reactive, and being of likely equivalent to less than equivalent training and marksmanship given his history of gun training, I highly doubt it would have gone down as the good senator "wishes". She likely would have grazed or missed him, or hit the armor, rather than shoot him in the head at the exact moment, and then she would have either been wounded or shot in retaliatory fire, and then he would have had an M4 at his disposal.

Civilians are not action heros. On average, civilians would all probably be about as proficient at mandatory gun ownership as they are at driving. And would you say that the majority of drivers on the road are excellent drivers? No. Most are okay, some are terrible, and a few are excellent. And knowing that, you want to wish "everyone" had a gun? Good odds, there, even when you don't factor in the prevalence and incidence of quite mental illness.

  10. I too read he was covered in body armor. Gomert is an absolute imbecile, his pic should accompany dictionary entries for the term.

  11. WOW he's creating a story from his sick head. Maybe if the principal did have a gun the shooter still would have killed her. There is NO guarantee that a gun on every hip and in every locker would have stopped the gun man, he would have been even more prepared to take out those he wanted to. The Senator is way off base and is creating hero stories where none exist.

  13. Again, HOW do a**holes like this get elected to public office? What idiot in their right mind would want such a fanatic as their representative?

  14. What absolutely revolts me is how politicians (including Obama) are too chicken to fight the NRA. Their career$$ are more important than the lives of children.

  16. Kiwi, that might be true philosophically, but you live in lilly-white safe Canada. You shouldn't criticize other people in other, more dangerous, places.

  17. @LITTLEKIWI: Wise, wise words that should be inscribed in stone on the Capitol steps and tatooed on the foreheads of every Senator and Representative.

  20. Toronto is one of the most multiculturally diverse cities in the world As is NYC, and Bklyn, where I also spend a lot of my time each year.

But continue obsessing with me, you cowardly little troll.

    *elegant curtsy*

  21. Yeah....Toronto has Asians ! Even less likely to shoot you than whites. You're very safe there. Move to the U.S. in Brooklyn, Atlanta or Detroit and then talk. (WAY more elegant curtsy as YOU try to curtsy and fall on your butt).

  22. I lived in brooklyn for years. Your obsession with me is hilarious. But hey, if focusing on me distracts you from remembering that your family is ashamed to call you "Son", then keep it up.

    Posted by: LittleKiwi | Dec 16, 2012 4:03:22 PM

  23. MY family obeys me. Not like.....YOUR Trust Fund Baby coddled situation. IF you lived in Brooklyn it's because your parents must have moved there and you followed. Then went home. YOUR obssession with Americans, Republicans, and ME is what's nuts (and I'm not even a Republican nor a Conservative). Just wait : you'll wind up being the gay Marc Lepine.

  24. I think the point is being missed about gun control. This event makes it quite apparent that the horse left that barn long ago.

Where did the shooter get his guns and ammo?

    From his mom.

In that quiet and quaint CT town apparently something right out of a Thomas Kinkaide painting, his mom amassed an arsenal in her upscale, suburban home.

So, good luck getting all those guns under control.
