The Miley Cyrus version of Jolene is surprisingly good.

I have a reflexive dislike of all boy band and ‘tweener’ stars, so this might by the first time I’ve actually heard her sing. (Though it’s my understanding this is very different from her usual pop dreck.)

Almost against my will I’ve had to re-think my Hannah Montana based dislike of her in light of her very pro-gay statements and her willingness to challenge the homophobia of her fans. I doubt I’ll ever be a fan, but I hope she does well. And Dolly Parton IS her godmother, so she can’t be all bad. (Her father, though? Blechhhh.)
