Tumblr user ellende-generes writes: "left this for my parents."

Later updating: "My mom saw it and cried of happiness. We hugged and cried together. Then, we all ate the cake and talked. I am very luck to have such supporting parents and to have so much support from you guys. Thanks everyone! Have a gay day!"

  6. Doesnt she know she isnt allowed to call herself gay anymore. She should have said shes "LGBTQXYZ". Never mind it would have confused her parents. Its what GLAAD would have wanted.

  8. Thank you for providing irritable nonsense, Homo Genius. I like to think you disappoint everyone in your life on a daily basis.

  9. She should've made glazed donuts.
Then all she'd have to write is that they're her favorite... mom would know

  10. Cute. However, my mother was NOT a morning person. She would have eaten the cake without reading it.

  11. Give it up, Homo Genius. People can call themselves whatever the hell they want.

    Props to this girl's creativity!

  13. You can tell a lesbian did this. A gay boy would have done a much better job of cake decoration!

(Before anyone starts, for god's sake lighten up. It was a joke.)

  14. I. LOVE. THIS. STORY!!!Laurel, you are THE BEST, and marvelously witty, too! Your parents are so lucky to have you, just like you're lucky to have them!

  15. Hilarious ! I'm very happy that things have changed for so many people.

When I was her age I would have been sent by my parents off to an institution for psychiatric evaluation. Even into this century my mother would remark when commercials for mental health centers came on the tv that she wishes there had been something like that for me...

I can't help notice though that the ones that already have all the love and support they need just get more, while the ones who've had little to none tend to get just ignored, or dismissed.

I guess that's to be expected when your family betrays you and you naively turn to "the community" for help.

  16. RIGHT AWAY,YOU KNOW THE PERSON COMING OUT IS NOT A GAY BOY - the cake would have been a lot neater, with rosettes, and better color co-ordination.
