Student Threatened in Anti-Gay Attack Near UCLA Campus: VIDEO

Police are looking for two suspects after a disturbing attack near the UCLA campus being considered a hate crime, KABC reports:

Investigators said a student was walking in the 400 block of S. Gayley Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Friday when a dark-colored car pulled up. Two men got out and approached the student. One of them allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and made anti-gay slurs.

The suspects got back in their car and left the scene. The victim sustained minor scratches and bruises.

One suspect was described as a white man in his mid to late 20s, about 5-foot-9, around 165 pounds with a shaved head and brown eyes. The other suspect was described as a Hispanic man also in his mid to late 20s, about 6-foot-4,300 pounds with long black hair.

  1. This story must be false because as Francis (and others) are forever pointing out, these kinds of attacks just don't happen in the "enlightened" metropolises of the East and West Coasts (much less in "enlightened" Canada), only in Red State America where everybody is a homophobic backwoods redneck.....

  2. I grew up around these parts. Absolutely terrifying that this happened. Westwood is a low-crime area and liberal. Though I suppose that makes it a sitting duck for homophobes.

Rick is just sore about the fact that no straight men would ever give him any attention, be it negative or positive.

  3. No, Rick is just sore because he's still Closeted as a grown adult and realizing the people he hates most don't live with the same cowardly fears.

sad story. hope they catch these pigs.

  4. Imagine if every 'incident' involving words being exchanged, simple assaults, and so-on, in the U.S. [a country of 315 million people] made the news. Imagine if every mean piece of graffiti anywhere, made the news. There were at least 6 armed and strong arm robberies and assaults near Boston University over the past few days, and these are only the ones anyone bothered to report, there were of course more assaults that simply weren't reported to police or were not reported in the media.

UCLA is in a very nice neighborhood. But L.A. has a crime problem and a very big gang problem.People gay and straight need to remember that.

  5. "4,300 pounds"!

    That IS disturbing!

  6. I don't think the attackers were actually from that neighborhood. It's fairly easy for people from troubled neighborhoods to drive to more affluent neighborhoods. West Hollywood has problems with non-residents always coming into the neighborhood to either bash or intimidate.

  7. "Rick is just sore about the fact that no straight men would ever give him any attention, be it negative or positive"

Hehehe. I have "deflowered" more than one virgin "straight" boy.....and probably had more sex with "straight" boys than with gay or bi ones over the course of my life....including one very blonde, very blue-eyed, very striking UCLA undergraduate, who remains a "protege" and who I always look forward to seeing on my occasional visits to LaLaLand (although he has graduated from college at this point).

  8. Why is the first post from a troll?

As if cars don't move.... as if getting in a car and going to a [minority X] neighborhood to intimidate [minority X] isn't an established pattern of behavior.

  9. "Hehehe. I have "deflowered" more than one virgin "straight" boy"

And where'd you bury the body parts? New Jersey?

  10. Rick, you're not cute at all. Please stop with the sex stories. And BTW, learn the difference between random assaults and everyday incidents.

The UCLA campus area has had a crime problem recently. There have been numerous attacks, assaults and even an attempted murder, as well as graffiti insults against Asians, over the span of a couple months. This is a random incident, a sad one, and hopefully these attackers are caught. More than likely, as has been said above, these are guys from seedier parts of LA intentionally going to the Westwood area, to cause problems. We know this happens often, that criminals go into good areas simply to commit crime, and scare innocents, rob innocents, etc. Hopefully UCLA-police boosts their patrol in and around campus, as does Westwood police.

Most importantly, I hope the student attacked isn't traumatized.

  11. "Westwood police"

Er, there is no such thing as the "Westwood Police", Francis. Westwood is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles and does not have its own PD.

Of course, if you were nearly as familiar with some of the places you talk about as you pretend to be (and as I am from having spent a lot of time in them), you would know that.

  12. "And where'd you bury the body parts? New Jersey?"

Derrick, I keep telling you there is a world beyond Camden, but you just won't believe me, will you? LOL.

  13. Rick: Westwood has LAPD officers who regularly patrol there. It is also patrolled by UCPD, who cooperate with LAPD in the neighborhoods surrounding the campus. So, yes, in effect there are "Westwood police."

  14. Rick has never been to westwood, or even LA. Why else would he speak so generally about it? He's just talking out of his ass, because that's what trolls do.

    Westwood Police

  16. I'll bet these two attackers went out and had sex with each other afterwards. They just committed the attack so they could feel like what they were doing was "not gay." Homophobia leads to some disgusting delusions... as people like Rick demonstrate.
And yes Rick, as many people have pointed out, there IS a Westwood Police; they have their own station near UCLA and their own 310-area code phone number. You would know this if your belief that you have deflowered straight virgins from UCLA was actually grounded in fact. Take your meds and stop spreading your illness.

  17. Rick, you just keep on giving more examples of how deeply troubled you really are. Please spare us your sexual proclivities, as I do not believe a word of them. As a matter of fact, I would not believe a WORD you say, even if your tongue came notarized. How you always manage to troll to the point where you are the FIRST poster, almost every single time! It's amazing! Are you tethered to a keyboard? Are you tethered to some radiator in the Midwest? I am beginning to wonder. But not enough to really care. Back to point...this is horrible, no matter if it happens in Westwood, Tribecka, or even Miller Beach. It is 2013, yet some act as if it were 1913. This should be over with a capital "O".
