    It’s more like “a boat”, Ratbastard…It’s called Canadian Raising and is only found in certain areas of Canada. It’s also prevalent (though less commonly) in northern American states and parts of New England.

    @Jeremy,

    THX J, I already am aware of Canadian Raising, and that it’s prevalent in certain areas of the U.S. [and spreading BTW]. To me it sounds like aboot. I’m not claiming to be superior, I can’t pronounce the letter R the way most Americans and Canadians do.

    Whatever.

    The two guys behind AsapSCIENCE are from Ontario and met at the University of Guelph. If you saw their Google+ AMA session, the immediate conclusion would be that they are both gay.

    At J and RB: I think you’re both right. “About” sounds to most Americans like a raised version of “a boot” in Eastern Canada as well as Tidewater Virginia, and it sound like “a boat” in Western Canada (except the West Coast) and parts of the US Upper Midwest (like Fargo).
    The Canadian spellings in this clip also give away the place of origin.
