Evangelical Leader Gary Bauer Says 'Skewed' Polls Showing Surge in Support for Gay Marriage are 'Ludicrous': VIDEO

Bauer_wallace

ON FOX News Sunday, evangelical leader Gary Bauer attacked the "radical movement" to "redefine marriage" in a debate with GOP strategist Nicole Wallace, saying that he's not worried about polling that shows a surge in support for same-sex marriage because "the polls are skewed."

Fox_pollSnapped Bauer:

“The argument that the public is overwhelmingly in favor of same sex marriage is ludicrous. 33 states have voted to keep marriage the union of one man and one woman. If it was so obvious that the American public wants to try a radical social experiment that results in children in those households, definitely, definitely, not having a mother and a father - that's what makes marriage a special institution. It guarantees that children have mothers and fathers. If the opinion of the American public was so overwhelming, the gay rights movement and their allies like Nicole wouldn’t be asking the Supreme Court to say to the American people, ‘You have no say on this issue. We're going to decide it here in Washington D.C.’”

  1. Herr Bauer:
You might want to consult with your cohorts in the Rethuglican party -paying particular attention to the darling Karl Rove and other minions about the reliability of polls -especially in terms of November 2012.
Every child deserves a 50 percent chance that maybe the holy union of their opposite sex parents might survive......even that's better than same sex -right Gary? You are a dinosaur-I have a museum for you to visit- just south of Cincinnati in the progressive state of Kentucky-home of Misty McConnell-that believes that people like you rode bareback on dinosaurs. You would be right at home there.

  2. Isn't misjudging polls what got these people into trouble last time?

  3. Based on the Republican reliability of polls from the last national election, Bauer, please by all means put ALL your chips on the polls being skewed. When these people are on a roll, they're on a roll!

  4. "A blitz by popular culture" meaning that most people want it and regressive minority does not.

Gasbags like Gary Bauer are like wounded dinasaurs who are losing, not only their argument but soon their jobs. He is trying to squeeze out a few more dollars from whatever idiots donate their dying dollar to hateful nonprofits before they are pointless and all donations dry up.

Even a windy old fart like Gary Bauer doesn't sound like he feels he can win. Toddle off to your retirement home, Gary. I'm sure it's nice considering how much money you've bilked people out of.

  5. Even in Ohio, were we have one of the most restrictive constitutional amendment, things have changed. Just released today by the nowhere near liberal 'The Columbus Dispatch' 54% support repeal of the 2004 amendment.

  6. Ok, I am watching the Sunday morning talk shows, 3 so far discussing SSM, and I am convinced those opposing it have a print out of a bullet list because every one of them spouted the sale BS lines in almost the same exact order.

  7. To right wing, anti-science morons like Bauer, "skewed" polls mean any poll that doesn't agree with what he "believes." People have their eyes open to your brand of BS, Gary. You have been rejected except by hateful, old bigots who will hopefully all die soon.

On top of that, your argument doesn't even make any sense! Why don't you go seek solace in your fake religiosity and leave the rest of us alone. We promise not to force you to get gay married.

  8. Would somebody please give this wizened old f*cker back his PRECIOUS and let him go on his way?

One the polls that showed this change in attitude was from Fox News and if they skewed anything it was to minimize those changes. Get used to it, Gary. You lost.

  10. Gary Bauer seems to me to be the one who is ludicrous. He seems to think that people never change their minds. And that people opposed to marriage equality never die. And that young people who are overwhelmingly supportive of marriage equality never increase in number and never reach voting age.

  11. When Christ said NOT to lie , 'religious' anti-gays proclaim that they are of 'christians' faith.

When Christ said NOT to judge, anti-gay 'christians' argue back it's 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of religion' and 'First amendment'.

When Christ did NOT condemn homosexuality nor same sex marriage at all, anti-gay 'christians' protest that homosexuality is an 'abomination' to their 'god' and condemn it as 'sin'.

When Christ gave the commandments to love God AND love thy neighbor as thyself as the GREATEST commandments of all biblical laws, anti-gay 'christians' strike back to voice their stand for other LOWER 'laws' or biblical verses to pretend to love God AND to hate others instead by voting and supporting laws like Amendment1, Prop8 and DOMA that discriminate at the greatest federal and state levels.

When REAL Christians and gays speak up against the antigay 'christians' , the latter call it 'intolerant' among other hateful words and lies.

Just 2 words for anti-gay 'christians' : ANTI CHRIST.

  22. He knows they're skewed, how? By the same practices he used for any poll taking propaganda? Just because Miz Bauer uses shady tactics doesn't mean everyone else does it.

  24. And clearly those 33 states that have banned equal marriage have done such a great job of ensuring that kids are raised by a mother and father. Tell that to all the single moms out there. How does stopping the gehys from marrying HELP have traditional nuclear families again? If you want to go back to Leave It to Beaver, ban divorce.

    Posted by: Graphicjack | Mar 24, 2013 2:36:39 PM

  25. It's interesting how people against equality always push the mother / father defense. What about single mothers?
