RoadFormer HRC President Elizabeth Birch on Clinton's DOMA reversal: "The bottom line is that the politics of DOMA in 1996 were admittedly tough and painful for all of us, but the FMA was simply not a threat at that time...I do believe the President could have survived a veto. He simply chose not to test history. So, my point is this: While President Clinton could not fully rise to that moment in history, he could at least now report it accurately."

  1. Victoria Jackson should go back to TV. Perhaps she can play the victim of a hate crime.

  2. Yet again, the President is dragging his feet on gay law reform, just as he did with DADT repeal.

  3. "Quebec court Judge Lori-Renee Weitzman denied a defence motion aimed at having the public and the media barred." http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Luka+Magnotta+trial+Quebec+judge+rule+publication/8084132/story.html

But the publication ban remains in force through the preliminary hearing.

  4. Elizabeth Birch is right that Clinton is revising history. If DOMA's passage was assured, he could have vetoed it and held his head high for the congressional override. But Birch is engaging in a little revisionism herself -- DOMA provided a warning that HRC didn't follow, and the organization did nothing to counteract anti-marriage constitutional amendments in more than a dozen states.

  5. Yet again, Rise (aka Rick/Jason) is trolling on towleroad with his "Obama is a homophobe" rant he posts all the time.

    What a pathetic troll.

  6. I have this to say to Elizabeth Birch: you and anyone associated now or formerly with HRC are NOT the ones to lecture ANYONE about BAD POLITICAL CALLS. I cordially invite you and the rest of your "Inside-the-Beltway-but-Gay, martini-soaked pretentious pigs to G F Y.

  9. Victoria Jackson doesn't *PLAY* an airhead. Victoria Jackson *IS* an airhead.

  10. Mateom, the only comments I ever see from you are when you're calling people names like "pathetic troll". Why don't you argue with Rise's assessment rather than resorting to ad hominem attacks.

  13. Can Victoria Jackson come back from the fringe? Not only no but hell no! She's a vapid, mentally ill, possibly mentally challenged c*nt who went way out on the crazy limb to demonize gays. My advice to her is to look both ways before she crosses the street because I can't guarantee I'd put the brakes on if she walked in front of my car. I'd at least have a moment of indecision, which might be all it takes.

The article also says that her policeman husband will soon retire and they'll live off his pension. What?! Little Miss Tea Party is going to live off the UNION negotiated socialist pension her husband gets from his GOVERNMENT job?! Could she BE any more of a hypocrite?!

  14. It would nice to see one of these psychos like Magnotta just for once actually plead guilty and save victim families and taxpayers a lot of grief. But he'll probably get off on being the center of attention for an extra 15 minutes.
