Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) Comes Out for Marriage Equality

Montana Senator Jon Tester has come out for marriage equality in a post on Facebook:

Tester“Montanans believe in the right to make a good life for their families. How they define a family should be their business and their business alone. I’m proud to support marriage equality because no one should be able to tell a Montanan or any American who they can love and who they can marry.”

Tester is the fifth Democratic U.S. Senator in two days to get on the marriage equality train.

Tester joins Senators Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), Mark Begich (D-AK), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who have all "evolved" on the issue in the past two days.

It’s pretty obvious that these people really don’t care one way or the other about same sex marriage – its all politics. If the case against DOMA was doomed, then I doubt we would have heard anything from these Senators. But since its very possible that DOMA will fall, they want to be on the winning team.

Still, I guess I’d rather have people jump on the bandwagon than try to stop it.

Mitchell, and how is that any different from Rob Portman.
He dind’t jump on anti-gay votes but he was very vocal about Obama talking about gay marriage in 2012 and has yet to speak up about getting rid of Montana’s anti-gay law.
What people are saying about Portman should be applied to Tester as well.

This is a big deal in Big Sky country. I’m proud of Tester, I doubt we’ll see Baucus mention it, Daines is an embarrassment unable to form a coherent thought without his puppet master handlers. Huge step forward for Montana politics.

I am glad they are getting on the bus and I do not want to be dismissive of their support. I appreciate it and value the gesture whenever it shows up. Next week I would like to see something on assault weapons, I am really hoping more children will be spared ever seeing a gun that should never be on the public streets of our country. The rank and file members of the NRA should be ashamed of their leadership.

Another Democratic Senator stands up for Justice and Equality. Thank you Mr Tester. I know that the Log Cabin Republicans and Go Proud are using their considerable influence in the Republican Party to get lots of Republican Senators to do likewise. LOL!!!
