Meet the Gay Man Living the Mermaid Lifestyle: VIDEO

Eric Ducharme is the subject of TLC's My Crazy Obsession, premiering tonight. Buzzfeed has the trailer and some wonderful gifs.

The Daily Mail reports:

'When I put on a tail I feel transformed,' Ducharme says while resting on the water's edge. 'I feel like I'm starting to enter into a different world when I hit the water.'

He calls it 'mermaiding,' his own style of costumed free-diving that he says allows him to escape the world up above.

'Being under water I feel, I'm just totally away from the world,' he explains while able to hold his breath for up to four minutes at a time.

Though as bizarre of a 'lifestyle' activity as it is, it's one his family and even boyfriend have accepted - it not without initial astonishment.

'When I first met Eric, I was introduced to the subject of mermaids, on our first date,' Ducharme's boyfriend Matthew Quijano opens up on camera. 'Your jaw just kind of drops and you're just like, "wow."

'When we go swimming I don't even see him because he swims off to his own little corner, it's all about getting away from the rest of the world,' he says.

Check out video of Ducharme mertailing, AFTER THE JUMP...

GLAAD to Honor Bill Clinton as 'Advocate for Change'

GLAAD announced today that it is honoring former President Bill Clinton at its Los Angeles GLAAD Awards.

ClintonDeadline writes that the first "Advocate for Change" award will also be given to Hollywood attorney Steve Warren:

The event will be held at the JW Marriott on April 20 and there will be more excitement than usual in the air as this is right in the midst of Supreme Court deliberations regarding the constitutionality of Prop 8 and DOMA, which will have profound impact on gay marriage and whether equal protections extend to gays and lesbians. That landmark decision is expected to be delivered in June. Big star power is expected at the event. Among the confirmed presenters so far are Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence. They are all Warren’s clients. Clinton is being honored for a long track record of pressing tolerance. I

In 2011, Clinton advocated for marriage equality in New York, stating that “for more than a century, our Statue of Liberty has welcomed all kinds of people from all over the world yearning to be free. In the 21st century, I believe New York’s welcome must include marriage equality.” In 2012, he joined the Coalition to Protect North Carolina Families in working against North Carolina’s proposed Amendment One to ban marriage and civil unions for gay and lesbian couples. Most recently, he called for the Supreme Court to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act in an op-ed for The Washington Post. During his administration, Clinton became the first U.S. President to appoint out gay and lesbian people to all levels of government. He appointed more than 150 including James Hormel as America’s first openly gay ambassador. During the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, his administration convened the first White House Conference on the epidemic, created the national AIDS Policy Coordinator post, and expanded funding for research. In 2002, his Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) began as the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in the developing world.

FOX News Priest Claims Catholics are Oppressed by Gays: VIDEO

Father Gerald Murray joined Megyn Kelly and a FOX News panel earlier this week to whine about how gays are the real bigots for oppressing and victimizing Catholics:

"You can caricature Christian teaching and call it bigotry and that's reasonable speech on the left these days. This nonsense that we want to disadvantage blacks, when we say that homosexual activity is sinful, to call that equivalent to denying them their basic rights — no, we're telling them if you want to live a good life, you have to follow what Jesus said. Basically, this is an attack on our freedom to preach what we believe."

Added Murray:

"They used to want to debate the merits of gay marriage. Now, they simply want to assert that this is the only rational and Christian thing to do, and historic Christianity and the Catholic Church says absolutely not. There's no such thing as gay marriage. You can name something marriage. It's not that. But, instead of debating me on that, they want to say, 'You're a bigot. You're equal to a racist. You're equal to an anti-feminist' and all the rest, and I say, hold on, that's not the reality at all. We love everyone, including sinners of all types, but we don't tell the sinner, well, you'd like to have a legal recognition for your relationship, go ahead and have it. We don't do that."

A Purrfect Science Lesson About Cats: VIDEO

The ASAP Science guys take on one of the internet's favorite topics, pointing out that feline noses are their fingerprints, catnip really is a drug, and pussies have very lazy schedules. They also explain why cats always land on their feet, why they lift their tails when you pet them (ewww), and why they bury their poop.

Also, why do cats purr, can they really see better at night, and can you tell a cat's gender by looking at its fur?

Alan Keyes Says Gays and Marriage Equality Supporters are Committing Crimes Against America and Humanity: VIDEO

Conservative activist Alan Keyes skyped in to the right-wing Stan Solomon Show to offer his verdict on the recent surge in support for marriage equality, digesting Solomon's ("I can’t stand the thought, the idea, the concept of homosexuality") vitriol, and adding some of his own, Right Wing Watch reports:

“If you go down a road that satisfies your personal predilections and relationships and sacrifices the common good of the country, including the elementary institution by which civilization is sustained, then you’re not only derelict in your public duty, you are abandoning your obligation as a human being...Frankly, people throw around words like ‘crime against humanity,’ I think that kind of disregard for the God-endowed natural rights of human being is the archetype of all crimes against humanity, and I think we have an entire elite faction that is now committed to committing such a crime against the American people.”

Bill Maher Slams 'Mean-Spirited Opponents of Marriage Equality: VIDEO

Bill Maher appeared on Jimmy Kimmel last night and discussed the recent marriage equality arguments before the Supreme Court as well as recent remarks from the Georgia GOP Chairwoman that gay marriage is unnatural and it's all about a "free ride for fraudsters" (meaning straight people pretending to be gay to get the benefits).

Said Maher: "It just goes to show you how bankrupt all these arguments are against gay marriage."
