Alan Keyes Says Gays and Marriage Equality Supporters are Committing Crimes Against America and Humanity: VIDEO

Conservative activist Alan Keyes skyped in to the right-wing Stan Solomon Show to offer his verdict on the recent surge in support for marriage equality, digesting Solomon's ("I can’t stand the thought, the idea, the concept of homosexuality") vitriol, and adding some of his own, Right Wing Watch reports:

“If you go down a road that satisfies your personal predilections and relationships and sacrifices the common good of the country, including the elementary institution by which civilization is sustained, then you’re not only derelict in your public duty, you are abandoning your obligation as a human being...Frankly, people throw around words like ‘crime against humanity,’ I think that kind of disregard for the God-endowed natural rights of human being is the archetype of all crimes against humanity, and I think we have an entire elite faction that is now committed to committing such a crime against the American people.”

  2. No facts....just supposition from a bigoted mind. If he wants to be Nigerian or Ugandan then let him move there. Stupid is as stupid does.

  3. I hate when people criticize what Andy chooses to post, but I don't see the point of posting the idiotic views of idiots. When was Keyes last relevant? Right around never? And I've never even heard of Sam Solomon. Stupid people will always say stupid things.

  4. Given the pull quote, I have to admit I kinda agree with his sentiment.

The problem is that he's the one I'd point it at. He's the one going down the road of satisfying his personal predilection and relationships while sacrificing the common good of the country by denying equality. He's the one destroying the elementary institution of family by which civilization is sustained by tearing apart the families of those who are gay. He is derelict in his public duty and abandoning his obligation as a human being. He has no regard for the natural rights of human beings and is the archetype of all crimes against humanity and this faction he is a part of is committed to perpetuating this crime against the American people.

  5. what does that even mean to "not stand the thought of homosexuality"?

does that mean that when he thinks of it the blood leaves his head and goes somewhere else and gets dizzy or something?

  7. Every article about Alan Keyes should mention that he disowned his lesbian daughter.

  8. The nutiest of the nutiest on full display here on Towleroad. Perhaps they deserve a place in the homophobic bigot's version of "Ripley's Believe It or Not".

  9. @Paul R. - I understand why you feel that way. It gets exhausting and draining to see the ignorance some conservative spouts every. single. day.

I just think the constant reminders are important. I'm worried some of us might forget what these ignorant, homophobic, batshit crazies really think when the election year comes and they magically put on their happy accepting faces in 2014.

  10. "If he wants to be Nigerian or Ugandan then let him move there."

No, Woodroad34, I think he wants to be a Right-wing Tea Party Conservative Republican. No, he doesn't look like you're average right-wing nut, but he is. Now, should he move to Texas where Congressman Gomhert comes from? Congressman Gomhert says that marriage equality for Gays will lead to sex with animals--in the USA, I guess?

  11. Why do these folks keep saying marriage is required to "sustain civilization". People were having kids long before marriage existed (as either a civil or religious entity) and are continuing today (in large numbers) to have kids outside marriage.

  14. Alan Keyes, one of the original Tea Baggers. I am not surprised by any of this nonsense. He disowned his daughter after she came out. This is just his ploy to regain some spotlight. Can you imagine the amount of crazy that would be discussed between him, Congressman Gomhert, and Ben Carson? They are in a three way race for dumb f... of the week.

  15. For someone who "can't stand the thought of homosexuality"...I'm guessing he thinks about it a whole lot more than he wishes that he did.

  16. Keyes contradicts himself throughou his entire Skype video, but especially when he says (about Portman and other Gov't officials switching their views) - "your job is to take account of the common good." But, didn't he say in the beginning of his sensless "made-up-as-he-went-along" tirade that "God made people who say they're homosexual." I guess my question is: what are homosexuals, then? Not common or good?

Also - how does one "abondon" their obligation in public duty when they're looking out for the "common good" of equal rights for EVERYONE? #provesmyabovepoint

I question why this story even made it onto anyone's radar?

    Moving on....

  22. Said it once and I'll say it again..whatever we think of Rob Portman,at least he is standing behind his son.
Alan Keyes disowned his own daughter when she came out,as did the congressman in Arizona as have many parents when their child comes out.
And they are held up as "role models" by the religious reich.

  24. The right wing seems to specialize in making
fallacious arguments. This clip is full of
fallacies. I have come to the conclusion
that kind of mindless, bombastic rhetoric
reveals conservatism as a not so clever
    form of fraud.

  25. Ben Carson is out to sell books- and getting
your name in the internet and on cable news
is a great way to do it. But at what cost
    Dr. Carson?
