Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy Deletes Anti-Gay Tweet Blasting Supreme Court Rulings

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy attacked declared his displeasure over yesterday's Supreme Court rulings on Twitter but then deleted the tweet.

Said Cathy's tweet: "Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies."

CNNMoney reports:

Chick-fil-A released a prepared statement that neither supported nor denounced Cathy's tweet.

"Dan Cathy, like everyone in this country, has his own views. However, Chick-fil-A is focused on providing great tasting food and genuine hospitality to everyone," the company said.

The tone of Chick-fil-A's statement is similar to how the company handled backlash against Cathy's previous comments on gay marriage.

  1. too bad no one has ever asked cathy under oath if he had ever used a racial slur 25 years ago - then he'd be out of a job real fast.

  2. Waffle fries aren't that great when you throw up a little in your mouth every time you think about who runs the company.

  3. He doesn't know what a sad day really is. "Oh, it's Sunny! What a sad day for our nation" What a street thug and a cancer...again no facts, just emotion and fear. Seriously, get some help for your disease. Disgusting putrid waste of space. He reminds me of that storyline from Supernatural where a Chick fila-esque restaurant sells lethargy inducing crap and is run by Demons. He's a hell-spawn.

  7. Chick-Fil-A corporate leaders must hate their marketing nightmare Dan Cathy, he's like the drunk peepaw embarassing the family at a nice wedding.

  13. @Hey Darlin' - you took the words right our of my mouth. He's like the senile racist Grandpa the family hopes won't have an outburst and embarass everyone. The answer to that problem? Sedatives.

  14. I really wish this site had a separate section entitled "WINGNUTS" where every single post about some stupid person's ignorant, hateful words can be placed. I am tired of reading this stuff. I don't want to be kept abreast of what these people say. It's negative, nasty and does nothing but further their message and get it to others. WHO CARES?!!

  15. Actually, Cathy, the founders expected the laws of the land to adapt to new information. They were also pretty disgusted by religious organizations and oligarchs, so I somehow doubt you'd be in their favor.

  17. Right on, AJ! Let's just bury our heads in the sand and pretend all the bad stuff goes away, that'll fix things!! Here's a little advice, just don't click on the freaking articles. Oh, and while you are at it, start your own blog, instead of telling others what to post on their own.

  18. Chick-fil-Hate must keep a stack of those press releases ready at all times for when 'ol bigoted gramps goes off again. Everyone of them reads the same way. You can tell they put a lot of thought into them.

  19. @AJ
Well, I care. This type behavior is what we have to face up to. Knowledge of what wealthy corporate bigots that fund and foster hate are doing is fundamental to addressing their insidiousness. Best I can offer is if these type articles and comments offend you then skip them.

I've 'suggested' on surveys that tabs or category sections would help readers choose which type articles they want to spend time on but that hasn't happened yet. Send Towleroad an email, if he gets enough complaints change could happen.

  20. Mr. Cathy's now channeling the founding fathers like the religious dolts who are suddenly adding Bible verses about what Jesus said about marriage equality, you know those lines in the fifth gospel, Poorme 2:2-5.

If you don't like it Mr. Cathy, close up shop and open in Uganda. They would love you and your fried food.

  24. Christian values didn't make America great. Name one christian value that did. Freedom? Jesus endorsed slavery. Justice? Comes after you die in christianity. Democracy? Jesus didn't care for government. The right to bear arms? Turn the other cheek. Capitalism? Jesus condemned the rich.
