Following SCOTUS Ruling, VP Biden Says America 'On The Road To Fairness': AUDIO

Biden_doma_wh2

In the latest installment of his audio series entitled, "On the Road to Fairness," Vice President Joe Biden praises the Supreme Court's ruling on DOMA, proclaiming,

"I think we're on the verge of seeing America move even further. I think we'll see the day when it is no longer a debate about whether or not same-sex couples can be married and whether or not they deserve every single civil right every other married couple deserves. This is a great day...for every gay and lesbian couple and it should be a great day for every straight couple in America. Now we can look each other in the eye and say: We're on the road to absolute fairness and equity."

Listen as Biden talks about LGBT equality and relates the story behind the above picture of him and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, introducing a gay member of their staff, Carlos, at a special reception they held for the LGBT community this past September AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Thanks to Joe Biden, our Vice President, for these gentle, kind, and beautiful thoughts. You are so right that we are going the right way--those of us out here in the "trenches" know what it took to get to this point and you are right that someday there will be no more arguing about the rights of same-sex couples; they will be seen as naturally the same as everyone else's. That's because they are.

  2. SCOTUS upholding LGBT civil rights was monumental and will eventually lead to full equality for LGBT Americans but the very sad truth is that our extended Family brethren in 30 states still aren't legally equal. In seven other states they have, to borrow from Ginsberg, skimmed milk equality.

In Russia they have none. In parts of the Middle East and Africa they get executed.

Celebrate our achievements, hug your loved ones and show them how precious they are to you, go to a Pride event or a private party this weekend but then take a moment to reflect on how far we still have to go.

  5. If we move any further we'll damage our intestines Joe. He's a relic politician, liberal hot air.
