'Coming Out' Seeks To Show The Process Firsthand, But Needs Your Help - VIDEO

Alden comes out to his father on camera

Back in 2010, Alden Peters was taken aback by the repeated suicides of young person after young person. It was then that he decided to come out to his family, friends, and his various online acquaintances. But simply coming out wasn't enough, so he decided to embark upon a feature-length documentary, depicting the entire process firsthand.

The result is Coming Out, a film that allows the audience to witness the entirety of Peters' process, and the ensuing drama, heartbreak, support, discrimination, and formation of a new identity. The film has wrapped principal photography, and is scheduled to finish post-production this September. That is, if the film's Kickstarter campaign reaches its $20,000 goal. The film previously ran a successful Indiegogo campaign and received a grant from the Alan Landsburg Documentary Fund. More funds are unfortunately required for pickup photography, media licensing, outreach, and other costs that are outlined on the group's page.

A rough cut has been assembled, and has already been test screened for audiences at Rutgers University to supportive reviews. For those interested in seeing the finished film, digital downloads access will be given to all of the film's backers.

  1. Coming Out stories are tired and boring. They all sound the same.

  2. Love this project. Coming out stories are what inspired me to come out and find the motivation. This was lovely.

  3. Very nice work they are doing. We have to get our message out to gay youth that it's ok to be gay and many of us have come out and experienced amazing joy.

  4. I totally love this. I work with LGBT young people with the trevor project and so many use the internet as a tool to help with the coming out process and clips like this help that platform.

  5. Fakeoutrage is a poster named Zeta. Please look up their trolling history on this site. Just another religious nut job trolling on here, but we need to expose the trolls to disqualify anyone taking their BS serious. It's coming from a hetero troll pretending to be gay. Read their posting history.

    You've been exposed Fakeoutrage/ Zeta/ will
