One Direction Go Deep In Disguise, Make A Mess, Pimp Their Movie With 'Best Song Ever': VIDEO

1D

After days of hype, One Direction has finally released the music video to their song "Best Song Ever", in which they do double duty portraying both themselves as well as a colorful cast of characters. We've already seen Liam Payne channel Richard Simmons as Leeroy the Choreographer, as well as Harry Styles channel gay British fashion consultant, author and personality Gok Wan. Now you can also see Louis Tomlinson do his best impression of Rex Grossman from Tropic Thunder, as well as Zayn Malik dressed in drag and catching stares from his fellow band-mates as he bends over. We're not sure exactly who Niall Horan is supposed to be channelling, but at least the makeup looks convincing.

The video and song are to promote the band's upcoming film One Direction: This Is Us, which is due out on August 30th. You can download the song on iTunes, and watch the music video AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. Cute. Some of them are actually pretty decent actors and really committed to the characters.

  3. I've heard of One Direction many times but have never paid much attention to them. The video, something like a parody, was very creative, cute and well done. And the Boys were much better singers than I expected them to be. 2 thumbs up.

  7. Do they make it a point to help LGBT causes, or do they just show up here all the time as clickbait?

  9. they are fairly gay positive in light of the gay rumors that have dogged them since day one, in fact they egg them on without an ounce of gay panic or malicious intent. they are likable lads singing catchy, instantly forgettable pop. their casual attitude towards gayness and appreciation of their gay fanbase MAY be a more lasting contribution than their music, admittedly not a very high bar...

  10. One Direction are manufactured media who'res from Britain. Can't sing and can't act, either.

Does Towleroad get paid to promote such hacks?

  15. This was my very first exposure to OD performing. I've heard/read about them without feeling any need to do more. The concept of Boy Bands falls outside my interests, much like drag and Reality TV shows. That is nowhere near the revulsion I feel for overuse of "awesome" and the perverse practice of shaved pubes, of course. I was pleasantly surprised by this bit's energy and the actual talents of the lads beyond burbling bubble gum crap, Justin Bieber could learn from them--he won't.

  18. I think Niall is supposed to be a Harvey Weinstein-type.
Also they are very gay friendly. Harry actually tweeted when the Westboro nuts picketed their concert that he believes all love is the same, and has previously tweeted support for marriage equality. And he has a lot of sway over a lot of young people.
    They're good kids.

  19. Think they shot part of this in Miami, right? At Temple House?

  20. Yup. They did.
