Queer Bookstore BGSQD Seeks Funding For Permanent Location

We first told about New York's The Bureau of General Services - Queer Division (BGSQD) last year. The queer bookstore (the only LGBT-exclusive one in Manhattan) and event space has been hosted at the Strange Loop Gallery since this past November but founders Greg Newton and Donnie Jochum are currently in search of funding for a permanent home. BGSQD will vacate Strange Loop on August 31. The new proposed location in the Lower East Side would add a cafe to the already eclectic cultural center.

Visit the fundraising page on IndieGogo for more information and watch a short Wes Anderson-inspired video about BGSQD featuring Newton and  Jochum, AFTER THE JUMP.

  2. Anyone who refers to LGBs as queer doesn't deserve a dime.

  6. Couple of things:

    1) Not the only gay bookstore in Manhattan, that's a really lame thing to do to the other gay bookstore in Manhattan.

    2) Queer is our word reclaimed by the Queer movement, you are absolutely allowed to use it even if dullards who couldn't name a non movie historical gay man say its bad. They don't crap and they most assuredly will not "get" queer anyway. God, the ignorance on you guys, aren't you just a little ashamed of it?
