  2. I don't see why the gay community allows drag to be associated with us. We are gay because of our orientation - we are born this way. Drag queens are not per se gay. There are straight drag queens. There are gay men who are not drag queens. It is behavioral and our enemies associate us with them for that reason. We have a hard enough time convincing straights that our orientation is not a choice; then we confuse them by associating with people who are doing what they are doing out of choice. Our enemies associated drag queens with the gay community to discredit it, and we have oh so stupidly embraced it. Big mistake. :(

  5. I'll take a drag queen over an exclusionary faggot any day.

  6. Mikey: Thank you very much for displaying the mentality of those who disagree with my position. You have no counter-argument, so you call me the most homophobic slur you could think of. I don't know whether to laugh at your pathetic attempt to insult me, or to feel sorry for you being so self-loathing.
*****overtex: I think I know what you mean to say, but you are wrong in citing Stonewall as the beginning of the gay rights movement. You have to go back at least to Harry Hay and the Mattachine society for that. Perhaps even earlier. So what, some drag queens resisted arrest; how does that make it logical to let our enemies dictate the propaganda? They decided to lump us together and it is to our discredit... Drag queens do what they do out of choice. Gays are born this way. It is unfair to perpetuate the stereotype that gay men are effeminate cross-dressers. Some of us are, but most of us aren't.
Max; No. It is about behavior vs. orientation. There is no reason to lump people who are identified by their learned behavior in with people who are born this way. It is unfair to those of us who don't care for the effeminate, cross-dressing stereotype.

  8. @Nullnaught, why do drag queens threaten you so much? The way I see it, drag queens are a part of gay culture. They are entertainment at the gay bar. It's fun. If you don't like drag queens, fine, but I suspect that the real reason you are bothered is because you are not very secure in your own sexuality. People who are afraid of being associated with the "stereotypical gays" or (gasp) drag queens are afraid because of shame. That same shame is clouding your perception of how the gay community, and you, by proxy, are viewed. Everyone I know knows that I am gay. None of them view me as a drag queen. If somebody wants to cross dress, who cares? It's 2013, get over it.

  9. @Nullnaught, one more thing. I, for one, am not willing to give up our gay culture and way of life just because people outside our community won't understand it. Instead, how about simply trying to educate others? Drag queens are simply entertainers. Cross-dressers or transgender people suffer from legitimate gender identity disorders. Educated people accept and suppport these people, not throw them under the bus because it might make us look too gay!
