  3. He's an embarassment to the gay community. Really, now that there are plenty of hot openly gay public figures, let's make these jokes about them, ok? Let's kid about Matthew Bomer, not Liam Hemworth. Too much ogling of what we cannot have projects insecurity. Imagine: how absurd would it be if Ellen made the same joke about Miley?

  8. Elton's always had a sense of humor about himself, allowing Jennifer Saunders to make light of his "sausage fingers" and hair on AbFab and Bubble to opine it was "a matter of opinion" if he was a good singer. After nearly 50 years of incredible wealth I doubt today's catty queens bother him.

  9. Remember, this guy is "old school'. He grew up in a time when you couldn't be openly gay and he broke a lot of barriers being gay without actually admitting it. Liberace did the same and he was even older school than Elton. I applaud the guy for sticking with Furnish, for marrying him and for having two children. Who wouldn't do the same if they had his fame and money? BTAIM, I do not agree with his determination (greed really) to perform in Russia - unless he gets arrested and thrown into jail then put on trial (what a world-wide sensation that would be).

I am very thankful that after so many years together they found little Levon in that orphanage and fell in love with him. That must have been a huge transformation in their lives - and then being denied adoption because they were gay had to hurt even more. But it did make Elton realize he could have children and he followed through. Many of us claim we don't want long term commitments much less children but as the years go by I promise you, that will change. Not for everyone but for a majority of us.

  11. "BTAIM, I do not agree with his determination (greed really) to perform in Russia - unless he gets arrested and thrown into jail then put on trial (what a world-wide sensation that would be)"

And then he'd be convicted and hanged/shot to death. Yay! [rolls eyes]

I've spent the morning at Joe.My.God. arguing with people who simply don't get what he's going to do in Russia. He's not going to make a statement at the two concerts he's playing, he's going to use the contacts he's made since he first went there in 1979 to talk to officials and politicians about the gay rights situation. Far more effective than sloganeering in public, in my view.

As for the "He's greedy!!!!", I didn't notice many Madonnabots or Little Monsters complaining on the usual gay blogs when their idols went there and collected fat paychecks.

  12. Like David never gets any on the side. ;)
He's flat out obvious on that one, seen it in action more than once and if he isn't the center of attention at every party...
