Rosie O'Donnell to Join ABC's Gay Family Show 'The Fosters' Next Year - VIDEO

Screen Shot 2013-09-18 at 4.36.42 PMRosie O'Donnell has announced she will be joining ABC Family's The Fosters, the new Jennifer Lopez-produced show centering around a multiethnic family of foster and biological kids being raised by lesbian parents. The Hollywood Reporter has the details:

O'Donnell, who is a foster and adoptive mother, will play Rita Hendricks, a tough yet compassionate woman who works for the foster care system and becomes a mentor to a member of the Foster family.

She'll appear in three episodes when the second half of the show's freshman season returns in January. Production will resume in October. [...]

"I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful, heartwarming show. My kids an I never miss it," O'Donnell said.

  5. Is she still on Oprah's network?! I have no clue. :-) :-) I have seen her do 2-3 episodes of Web Therapy , I think the second season., she played a really good Catholic with the rosary beads in her hands , those religious statues behind her.,all very funny.. One show I don't miss

  6. I really wish it were two guys as I'm not a big lesbian fan. It looks like they have cast it well and I've always liked Rosie. I loved her most when she interviewed Barbra and confronted Tom Selleck over the gun issue. I look forward to seeing her on this show, I'm just not sure there is enough there for me to stay with it. Now if it were Brad Pitt (the cop) and a new face like David Leon (second detective on BBC's Vera) I wouldn't miss a minute of every episode! :-)
