Dick and Lynne Cheney are ‘Pained’ That the Family Feud Over Gay Marriage Has Become Public

Cheneys

Dick and Lynne Cheney have released a statement in response to the family feud that broke out publicly yesterday after Wyomin Senate candidate's appearance on FOX News Sunday.

"This is an issue we have dealt with privately for many years, and we are pained to see it become public. Since it has, one thing should be clear. Liz has always believed in the traditional definition of marriage. She has also always treated her sister and her sister's family with love and respect, exactly as she should have done. Compassion is called for, even when there is a disagreement about such a fundamental matter and Liz's many kindnesses shouldn't be used to distort her position."

To recap, Liz says she favors "traditional marriage" and her lesbian sister Mary and Mary's wife Heather Poe aren't having it anymore.

The entire family is disgusting and reprehensible. Again with the “let’s agree to disagree” nonsense.

  2. NotSafeForWork says

They’re just upset because they were revealed to be hypocrites, not because they actually are hypocrites. Agree to disagree is infuriating and demeaning in this regard. Good for the girls to not put up with the BS any longer.

  3. Jack M says

The real pain comes when we all have to hear them scrambling to convince the world they’re not ignorant and bigoted.

  4. mickey says

Darth Cheney and the whole crew need to go away.

When it mattered none of them did anything to stop the Bush Push to hurt us all.

Its way to late for Mary to pretend to be outraged when she way paid to help demonize us.

  5. MikeMick says

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of nasty, selfish, arrogant, hypocritical bigots. It’s better than they deserve.

  6. simon says

How can something be called kindness when it amounts to disparaging the most important relationship in the life of your own sister?

  7. says

Surprise, it’s all about how wonderful Liz is (gee, you’d think she was running for office or something), but when it comes to Mary they’ve always wanted to keep the issue “private.” Back to your closet of silence, naughty Mary! Creeps.

  8. Strepsi says

“we have dealt with privately for many years, and we are pained to see it become public. ”
    — then stop making PUBLIC LAWS that use your PRIVATE RELIGION to discriminate against gay people!!!!!!1111!!

  9. Geoff says

I’m pained to see that Darth Cheney still walks the Earth! It needs to be blasted into deep space to kill it. The Eveready Bunny pales by comparison. It’s keepers keep re-fitting it with new hardware. Gah! The children!

This “feud” is all about getting Liz elected to the Senate. How could Mary not know about Liz’s (alleged) position if they’ve “been dealing with this issue for years”?

Mary and Heather are just helping Liz look more anti-gay than her opponent.

  11. Mike says

Should not the vile head twit be sneering in a prison someplace instead of appearing on Faux News Sunday?

  12. Matt27 says

It is wonderful they decided to talk about their private matter in public, again! They should look at the mirror.

  13. Josh M. says

English: The birthright of every American to civil marriage. Cheneyese: This “issue”. Dehumanizing, dismissive, reductive. Why is this person still walking as a free man? Heather Poe must have a steel stomach not to firebomb her in-laws.

  14. Rexford says

“we have dealt with privately for many years, and we are pained to see it become public.”

Then stop running for PUBLIC office and just go away. The whole lot of you.

  15. David says

Mary Cheney is a disgusting hypocrite who worked hard to elect antigay politicians, including George W Bush. I have no respect for her at all.
That said, I hope that she and her wife Heather take down Liz Cheney by exposing her for the fraud that she is. We don’t need any more Cheneys elected to public office.

  16. disgusted american says

it makes me sick the “The View” came them a Forum..sorry there is no other answer, your daughter LIZ is on the WRONG side of HISTORY – PERIOD!

  17. Endorado says

Who knew Dicky was such a f@g lover? The only reason Dyke Cheney (oops Mary) is a lesbian is that she was too ugly to find a man. Most queers have that problem, so they drift into the arms of similarly ugly members of the same sex. It’s the same reason why liberals gravitate towards each other.

Well, won’t Thanksgiving dinner next week at the Cheneys be quite the Hallmark moment?

  20. keating says

Why does everyone assume that Heather and Mary are having Thanksgiving dinner with Liz and her brood?

  21. BobN says

I read an article once by an author who had spent the weekend at the homes of two uber-political families: the Cheneys and some part of the Kennedy clan. The reporter said the Kennedys had raucous arguments over policy issues at dinner but laughed and joked and teased and generally had a good time. The Cheneys spent the whole day and dinner complaining about liberals and saying nasty things about them, even to the kids.

  22. Donny says

This is all a lie and is a political move. They are angry because she doesn’t believe this at all. Notice the statement: “Let me make one thing clear (for those of you who don’t believe she’s right wing wacko enough). . . . ” Mary and Heather are angry because this isn’t how she believes at all and she is just saying she does to try and get elected. It’s exactly the opposite of what it seems.

  23. Randy says

“Liz’s many kindnesses shouldn’t be used to distort her position.”

This is exactly why I don’t care AT ALL how “nice” someone is.

  24. Mr. Fixit says

“This is an issue we have tried to cover up for many years, and we are embarrassed to see people find out how dysfunctional our family really is. Since they have, one thing should be clear: Liz has always been bigoted against gays and lesbians. She has also always loved her sister, and pretended to treat her sister’s family with love and respect, which was pretty much the least she could do. Sometimes you just have to put up with your relatives, even when there is a disagreement about matters of basic fundamental decency. Liz’s many (fake) “kindnesses” can’t be used to distort her true bigoted position.”

  25. FFS says

It’s no surprise that this whole genetic cesspool is completely devoid of any understanding as to what actually constitutes kindness.

I’m no fan of Mary’s, but I hope she’s finally found a modicum of self-respect and I hope she hangs her sister out to dry.

  26. Paulie says

That statement sure sounds like they’re siding with and defending Liz. If I were Mary, I’d cut them all off.

  27. Francis says

Embarrassing for all involved, and that includes Mary. Mary slept with dogs and doesn’t like the fleas that came with it. Unfortunately, let’s not act as if the Cheney’s are any different than a good 50-60% of families with LGBT members in it who are out. We haven’t really gotten anywhere close to a point where this doesn’t divide many families. This just happens to be different because of the family name and how public the spat has become.
