RoadAndy Cohen inks new deal with Bravo: "Mr. Cohen has agreed to a two-year deal to extend his work on 'Watch What Happens Live' (where he also serves as executive producer), while his new production company, Most Talkative, will develop prime-time shows for the network. He will give up his position as executive vice president for talent and development at Bravo, but will remain an executive producer on all the many 'Real Housewives' iterations."

RoadWhat NOM's shift to trans-bashing means: "NOM had a terrible year in which the Supreme Court struck down a key section of the Defense of Marriage Act and invalidated Prop 8. Last week alone the group saw Illinois and Hawaii move forward on marriage equality. Its own fundraising appears to have dwindled from the days when NOM would make splashy announcements about big donors. NOM and other groups think they can raise a lot of money on fear and ignorance about trans people."

RoadCape Town trial for two men accused of brutally beating a 23-year-old gay man delayed: "The trial, however, was unable to proceed because the suspects’ lawyer failed to arrive at court. The magistrate postponed the matter to December 10. The two accused, Manuel Masande and Sinethemba Sithetho, are out on bail."

RoadRapper Angel Haze describes what her mom did when she found out she was not straight: "When my mom found out she was so angry," Haze told HuffPost. "She was going through my s--t, and she staged this whole 'Nightmare on Elm Street' scene, where she opened the blinds and the curtains in the house so they were all flying around. It’s winter and she turns off all the lights. And she sits down and she tells me, 'God told me, you’re going to die of AIDS.'"

RoadLGBTI Network GALEAD launches: "GALEAD is a unique and secured communication platform aiming to connect all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex People, Organizations, Professionals, Businesses and their Allies across the world."

RoadBloomberg: How people lie about gay sex and homophobia. "Recent research uncovers strong evidence of preference falsification in the U.S. When people are assured of anonymity, it turns out, a lot more of them will acknowledge that they have had same-sex experiences and that they don’t entirely identify as heterosexual. But it also turns out that when people are assured of anonymity, they will show significantly higher rates of anti-gay sentiment. These results suggest that recent surveys have been understating, at least to some degree, two different things: the current level of same-sex activity and the current level of opposition to gay rights."

  1. Regarding the supposedly secure GALEAD network that claims to protect privacy, I think we ought to be real careful encouraging people to assume that any communication network is safe. Whether technologically, or through lies, any network can be easily compromised. The main positive effect of a secure network is NOT safety, but in reducing noise and trolling.

  2. Hijack! If you hate these terrible comments that undermine all efforts on this site, it's time to complain to Andy directly! If you want to help FIX THIS, please email/tweet/FB Andy and ask him to upgrade these comments. At the very least lets get a post that starts a discussion on it!

  3. Trans activists are such liars. NOM has not shifted to trans bashing. It came out in support of one measure in CA to repeal a trans law. That's it. It hasn't opined on any other trans issue and it didn't actually send any money to back the CA effort. Most likely, it issued that statement because 2 individuals who are supporters of NOM are involved in that other effort and NOM wanted to boost them.

But it's focus has always been and is today on attacking LGBs and marriage equality. It spent $7 million last year to defeat marriage equality in 5 states (compared to zero dollars on any trans issue). It was the major funder of the effort in Illinois and Hawaii and it will be the major funder of the fight against us in Oregon next year.

And who was out there, helping NOM in its attack on gay and lesbian families? Trans activists, who urged people to vote no on marriage equality in Maryland, seeing it as a great opportunity to punish gay people for not giving top priority to their issues, such as taxpayer funded hormone treatment for convicted murderers.

Hurting gay and lesbian families and their kids in order to bully gay people. And now lying about who NOM is attacking in order to divert more resources for their own benefit. That's the trans activist way.

  4. See? Wouldn't it be great if Helene's comment was downvoted as to not appear without clicking on it? To be fair if there are more trolls than people those might be the only comments!

  5. Now it's my turn to ask you for evidence, Helene. And, to forestall the inevitable, please show me something outside of tumblr whining. I'm looking for something that shows that trans activists, as a class of people, were pushing against gay marriage.

  6. Fenrox, stop trolling these comments. If you've got a problem with Andy's policies then take it to him directly. Quit bugging the rest of us.

  8. A troll pops up and one commenter points out how much better the comments section would be if you could completely ignore trolls, one commenter engages the troll (!) and one commenter insults the first commenter for being against trolling (!!)and calls him a troll (!!!).

Meanwhile, nobody is sanely and sincerely discussing the post they're supposedly commenting on.

    Welcome to Trollroad.

  9. @Once, There is one post and one hate post, then posts about this. Clearly you find this important too if you have a sec tweet Andy about it, these things can change.

  10. Oh, also, if you think it's only the "trans activist" bogeymen who are noticing NOMs pivot towards tran-bashing, them you might want to head over to HuffPo, where Michaelango Signorile specifically discusses this subject.

  11. I'm not surprised that NOM switched targets. Now that screaming about "gays ruining marriage" isn't working anymore, NOM needed a new boogeyman to scare old white Republicans into throwing their Social Security checks toward Bryan and Maggie's greasy hooves.

  14. Andy Cohen and bravo have to be the worst thing that's happened to black males (and women) in reality tv so far. The portrayal of black men is either of violent idiots or over the top outrageous queens. Where are the black real estate agents? The Black restaurant owners any normal blacks on any of their shows? No blacks in Beverly Hills or Miami? Only ghetto beeyotches in Atlanta. A very telling moment came on watch what happens live when the 2 gay million dollar listing guys were asked by a viewer if they dated black guys. The set went silent as they both looked like they were going to throw up. Andy changed the subject and hella quickly went to a commercial. I'd love to see what Andy has to say on this subject

  15. Andy Cohen is the worst representative for the gay community. He is a horror show who has taken gay people back years by acting like an effeminate character from a Astaire/Rogers film... Everything he stands for is repugnant. and yes, I would say it to him.

  16. Fury, NOM did not switch targets. Helene is correct. They spent millions last year fighting marriage equality, although I think it was actually 6 states when you count in Iowa. Their entire budget is focused on stopping gay marriage. As far as I know their involvement in trans issues is limited to a couple of tweets and one press release and has not involved any money or resources. So it is not true to say that they are focused on trans.

  17. 21 miley cyrus tattoos. I don't want to live on this planet anymore

    Posted by: Jaker | Nov 13, 2013 11:25:39 PM

  18. NOM hasn't entirely switched targets, but is is involved with trying to defeat ENDA (fearmongering around gender identity) and is involved with repeal of the CA bill designed to protect trans students. Both are at the top of their blog.

Basically, they WILL have to adapt since they are losing the marriage fight in the U.S. and those coffers are emptying out. Which means they're, by necessity, taking their show on the road to Europe and Russia and, in all likelihood, tapping into the next frontier in the U.S. Trans issues could de lucrative for them since it's still easy to stir up transphobia, easier than relying on homophobia alone. Let's not pretend Brian and Maggie care about anything but padding their wallets. If transphobia sells, their fat mouths will be ready ...
