'Ex-Gay' Poster Boy Michael Glatze Marries a Woman

Michael Glatze, founder of the (now shuttered) gay twink magazine XY and the short-lived publication Young Gay America  who went "ex-gay" and soon became a poster boy for that movement, got married in late October, Truth Wins Out's Wayne Besen reported earlier this week:

GlatzewedMr. Glatze worked for XY Magazine and was the co-founder of a short-lived LGBT teenie-bopper mag, Young Gay America. Suddenly, he broke up with his boyfriend and had what appeared to be a nervous breakdown, where he had severe panic attacks about dying. During these disturbing episodes, he renounced his sexual orientation and temporarily converted to Mormonism. Though he had dived into the Mormon faith with gusto, he just as quixotically abandoned this faith to become an outspoken fundamentalist Christian...

...He began writing incendiary op-eds for World Net Daily where he claimed to be “repulsed by homosexuality.” He appeared on Porno Pete LaBarbera’s radio show. However, his time on the “ex-gay” circuit was short-lived and he proved to be an incompetent spokesperson. His columns were so beyond the pale, that he alienated long-time “ex-gay” activists. Eventually, Glatze was drummed out of the “ex-gay” industry after a meltdown. His demise came after he wrote a racist rant against president Barack Obama on his blog...

...It now appears his phony “transformation” has moved on to recruiting an innocent victim as a prop to give credence to his lie.

(here's my piece about the defunct Young Gay America way back in 2004 before Glatze went off)

  4. I feel bad for this guy & the woman. It's pretty apparent this guy suffers from mental illness & everyone's in denial.

  9. This woman has no issue with taking advantage of this confused man who grew tired of the effeminate and frivolous lifestyle that has become common place in liberal, gay havens. He was led astray towards this path of self hatred because he literally saw no other life for himself. Anyone with eyes can see this. But as all women do, she married him hoping to change his true nature, in this instance to keep him straight, whatever the cost to his self esteem may be. Yet again, women have revealed themselves not to be friends to the gay community when their own self interests get in the way of gay male happiness.

  12. He's had lots of meltdowns. I'm not so sure he's very stable. The "faith" will give you a false sense of stability but that always ultimately fails.

  13. I guess his X boyfriend said he had a small wiener and he had a breakdown

  14. That marriage isn't going to end well for either of them, and someone has to be truly disturbed to alienate the ex-gay industry given that they'll latch desperately on to anyone who's willing to peddle their snake oil.

@Rick: Your slip is showing, dear. Need to keep better track of those personas.

  16. He'll eventually get re-outed. Just ask John Paulk, Michael Johnston, Ted Haggard, Matt Moore, etc.

  17. LOL @ "@Rick: Your slip is showing, dear. Need to keep better track of those personas."

Can somebody please explain why Rick creates these different personas on this blog?

That gal should've married Rick instead...or become a Mormon and married them both.

  18. Forget about him, she gets her hair and nails done decorates the house and gets endless shopping at their dry mall while he sneaks around town picking up boys in his car and at the triple X bookstore located a few miles outside of town...woohoo

  20. Glatze being a (devote) Mormon answers the head scratching questions. Someone I know who was enjoying his Out life for many years grew up as a Mormon but succumbed to his religious upbringing years later and now has resigned to marrying a woman. Never underestimate the power of religion with a conflicted individual.

  22. After reading the article, it seems that guy needs serious psychological help, not a wife. It sounds like he has a lot of problems, and keeps switching up his life in hopes that it will solve his problems - and when it doesn't, he just moves on to the next "easy cure".

  23. Such a shame. Glatze needs professional help, and his new wife needs a good attorney for the inevitable.

  24. He looks oh so happy too!

    Posted by: mike | Dec 5, 2013 2:15:22 PM

  25. The article says he worked for XY, not that he founded it. A quick google search will confirm that XY was founded by Peter Ian Cummings and not by Glatze. Please have some attention to detail.

@Sam: The article also clearly says that he is no longer a mormon, but rather a fundamentalist xtian.
