Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis Says Christie Bullied Him into Leaving NJ Senate Race

Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis said yesterday that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie threatened him when he decided to run for Senate in 2011, the AP reports:

LewisLewis said Monday the governor called to dissuade him from running as a Democrat for state Senate in 2011 against Republican Sen. Dawn Addiego (ah-dee-AY'-goh). Lewis says he was told the fitness program they'd been developing wouldn't materialize if he ran. Lewis says the governor felt the post "was a carrot he could pull away."

Lewis withdrew from the Senate race after a court ruled he didn't meet a residency requirement. He now lives in Houston.

  1. Well, c'mon... Which one was it?

    Either he didn't meet the residency requirements or he was bullied.

    But to claim being "bullied" when you couldn't run in the first place? I don't like Christie either, but this seems lame to me.

  2. Is Carl Lewis out of the closet yet?

    If not then I wonder why not?

  4. In the too much information category: Carl Lewis was on of my top j/o fantasies in the 80s. I wasn't gay, of course; I just admired his athleticism. Ah, the closet.

  5. @JOHNNY, Christie pressured Lewis to drop out of the race before Lewis was disqualified do to a questionable residency requirement.

    @MARYM It's none of your G-ddamend business.
