Jared Leto Offers Poignant Speech About the Battle Against AIDS at MTV Movie Awards: VIDEO

Leto

Jared Leto won the award for Best Transformation at the MTV Movie Awards for his portrayal of Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club and used part of his acceptance speech to talk about AIDS.

Said Leto:

"We've made a lot of progress in the battle against AIDS, but it's not time to celebrate just yet. There's no cure, the epidemic rages on. But here's to the hope that one day, we'll put an end of this plague, and the world will rejoice, knowing that no one will ever have to suffer the indignation of this sickness again, nor the intolerance, the fear or the prejudice that lives alongside it. Love who you want to love, live how you wish to live and never let anyone ever stop you from turning your dreams into your reality."

  2. Well he finally got it right....and in front of the right audience that needed to hear it.

  3. Another decent person on the trans activist hate list. Trans activists almost always focus their attacks on LGBs and progressives. They are themselves antigay and reactionary.

  4. Why do trannies hate Leto?

Why are LGB issues and T issues lumped together.

    Time to split them.

  5. (but he used the word "indignation" wrong)

  6. Is there mental illness discussion
    with all this hate?...

  7. STYLER,

the hate comments are all from one b1tch.

I've loved Jared Leto ever since I saw him in Jodi Foster's "Panic Room". I thought he was biracial (because of the corn rows he wore in the film). But that's ok. You can still be cute as a White man.

Although he could be a mulangeon.

  8. People who claim that the desire to split the LGB movement from the T movement is the result of 1 poster using different aliases, are in fact trolling.

Many, many LGB people wish the T people well but do not want our movements lumped together.

It is not remotely transphobic to think this.

LGBT was foisted on all of us without any discussion.

It's now time to drop the T.

  9. Actually, there was discussion. you just weren't a part of it because you're too busy being a worthless closeted-for-life coward making up screen names to spew hate on the internet, and you missed the meeting with the big vote.

There was a meeting, a vote, and I helped serve punch and pie. All the proud LGBT people who actually have lives voted in favor of being a united front, and since you were at home using aliases to impotently rage against nobody, your one sad eunuch vote wasn't counted. :)

Leto - nicely done, on a program and to an audience that needed to hear this message. Well met.

  10. Litper, JMartindale, MaryM and Styler are all the same person. Isn't that funny?

  11. I've watched this actor ever since, "My So Called Life". I like his music and appreciate the work he's doing for AIDS and the Transgendered. I just wish he's wash his hair more often.

  12. the attempt to disqualify commenters by accusing them of being alts only reveals how insecure you are of your position

the t's are indeed a legitimate part of our community, btw. to advocate "divorce" from them is unrealistic and wrong
