Victorious Conchita Wurst Arrives Home in Austria: VIDEO

Bearded drag performer Conchita Wurst arrived home in Vienna after winning the Eurovision Song Contest over the weekend to a massive crowd of supporters at the airport.

Attitude reports that the track is at the top of Russia's charts:

Conchita Wurst’s Eurovision winner is currently the most downloaded track on Russian iTunes. Rise Like a Phoenix, which romped to victory at the annual Song Contest on Saturday (May 10) by 52 points, is now number one on the ‘Top Singles’ countdown on Russia’s iTunes store. Armenia’s entry Not Alone sits at number three on Russian iTunes, while the Swedish, German and Russian Eurovision songs also occupy spots in the top ten.

  4. Glorious incredible subversion of gender norms. The cheers for Conchita, the BOOING of every mention of Russia....the EU made it very clear during Eurovision how they feel about Progressivism. It was bloody wonderful.

    @JTRAMON The "weird" feeling you get when you see Conchita is a natural byproduct of today's societal norms. By growing up in our society we are "trained" to 'fear' (be weirded out, be uncomfortable by...) expressions contrary to the binary male/female. Through life we start to pull at and cut some of these internal messages, but some are more hard-wired than others --- and gender roles are very hard-wired. So, I say, watch the video, feel uncomfortable, and start to deconstruct, for yourself, these antiquated messages.
