Schick Razor Ad Campaign Compares Thick Beards To Rodents On Your Face: PHOTOS

Schick Beard Mammal campaign

On the one hand, the latest ad campaign for Schick razors is pretty brilliant. They collected men with prodigious, enviable beards and had stylists and/or Photoshop artists trim, weave, and shape the whiskers into remarkably lifelike small mammals curled around the models' chins. On the other hand, they're comparing having a full pelt of face-fur to having a rodent dangling from your nose and have accompanied the ads with the tag #FreeYourSkin.

Maybe my interpretation is off, but it seems like associating a beard with an adorable fluffy animal would actually encourage men to grow them out rather than shave them off. Whatever the intent, the beards are epic and the models aren't half bad either.

  1. Sounds like a pretty fair comparison to me. I am not a fan of flavor savers like this. A little facial hair is sexy. But the full-on Paul Bunyan look is obnoxious and nasty! IMO, of course. ;-)

  2. The Duke Dynasty Dudes actually do have varmints on their faces.

  4. Can`t people just be who they want to be without people being bitches about it. If you don`t like beards then you don`t have to like them. Big deal. I`m not into hairless buff dudes but don`t go out of my way to advertise anti-waxing. Such a shallow and outdated way of viewing people around you.

  6. They got that right. Beards are mostly gross IMHO. Very few men look better with than without. SHAVE IT OFF PEOPLE!

  7. @Andy, @Dr B, please read another article - preferably one about clean shaven men and save your negativity.

  8. Dido Andy. Beards suck. But fashions change. They'll go away as soon as some movie stars shave.

And Jerry, who is Dr. B? Who are you?

  9. I agree with Tonez.

It's kind of disgusting and horrible that capitalism continues to breed body self hate among people. Gay vs Straight. Beards vs Smooth. Young vs Old.

  10. And I bet all of you queens complaining about beards would be waiting at a chapel with a wedding dress on if any of those models asked you out. But really, who gives a frick what you think is hot?

  12. Amen Heartboy! We all have our preferences but the imperious need to be negative on here has got to stop.

  13. Schick ads suck. Yuck! Hide your features with creatures?

  14. I get this feeling the models are all graphic designers.

Anyway, yeah, do whatever you want, any style is in now, shaved or hairy.

If you don't like beards, don't grow one and don't date guys with them. That leaves them for the rest of us who love bodies that are hot, natural and not preened to death.

  15. Oooooh, razor sales must be down...frickin' blades are just too expensive.

  16. Clever.

  17. Points for ingenuity; I just disagree with their attitude, in that a bit o' scruff (or even a beard) only makes a man hotter to me. But hey, they're trying to sell razors, so of course they're going to take the anti-facial-hair approach. Whatever.

  18. I'm not on the Twittertubes, but if I was I'd respond to Schick's #freeyourskin with #lowerthepriceofyouroverratedrazors. I love furry men ;)
