Check out our weekly guide to make sure you're catching the big premieres, crucial episodes and the stuff you won't admit you watch when no one's looking.

— “Zac Efron was nervous glancing over the top of the waterfall, his body glistening with sweat under the beating sun. He and Bear Grylls had already taken off their shirts in preparation for diving into the chilly waters below. Bear tried to reassure Zac, ‘We started together, we’re gonna finish together.’” No, that’s not an excerpt of erotic fan-fiction. It’s an actual description of what goes down in tonight’s premiere of Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Watch the wilderness guru lead celebs into the unknown (and, who knows, maybe snuggle up to them next to the campfire) tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC. Future guests include Ben Stiller, Tom Arnold and (unf) Channing Tatum.

Sharks, zombies and diminutive dancers come to a television screen near you, AFTER THE JUMP ...

— It’s a great time to be a child dancer. First, Maddie Ziegler stars in the music video for Sia’s smash “Chandelier.” Then, Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern, the show that first made her a star, Dance Moms, is back on Lifetime. After that, at 10 p.m., Raising Asia chronicles pint-sized aspiring superstar Asia Monet Ray, as she tries to sing, dance and diva her way into America’s heart.

— If only it were simply raining cats and dogs. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are back in Sharknado 2 Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Syfy.

— Ever wish Hot In Cleveland had more zombies? You’ll get the undead, plus they'll throw in talking dogs and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler when the ladies are drawn together in a very special animated episode, Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern on TV Land.

— It’s not only a team challenge Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Project Runway, but it’s an unconventional materials challenge as well. See what happens when the designers create cinema-inspired mini-collections on Lifetime’s premier fashion competition.

  1. I can't wait until people stop taking pictures of themselves sticking out their tongues and fingers. It is SO stupid.

  3. Snuggle up? Not likely. Grylls is a homophobe and born-again Christian. Any hint of homosexuality and he bristles.

  7. It's true that he's a Christian (and therefore anti-gay). He spoke about it on an episode of Man vs. Wild in Argentina.

  8. How does a guy named Bear not have chest hair? This isn't reality TV, it's Alice in Wonderland. Why don't words mean what they are supposed to mean?!?!?!!?!?!

  9. Merv doll, don't Perv the truth.
Being Christian automatically does not mean being antigay.

Bear had a gay contestant this year on one of his shows the record:

But what really makes the show compelling is its cross-section of personalities – among them a neurologist, actor and call centre worker – each of whom offers a distinctly different angle on modern manhood.

“Seeing as I’m a hairdresser, associate my name with Bear Grylls and people just laugh,” says Dean Smith, 25, from London. “Also, being gay, it’s harder to be accepted. Even though it’s 2014 there’s still a minority who think that a real man is someone who’s a builder or a plumber.

“For me, it was about going out there and proving a point. It doesn’t matter who you fancy or how much fake tan you use, we’re all men, we all bleed red and anyone can do it.”

  10. *Cooley - on "Get Out Alive" the only two openly gay contestants he has ever had on any of his shows were labeled 'best friends' when, in fact, the two were a committed couple living together in L.A. According to other participants on the show Grylls refused to allow the gay couple to show any affection but encouraged the hetero couples to display PDA so the cameras could pick it up. The gay couple were obviously the stronger team - not just physically but intelligently and when they were pitted against the most physically ardent straight buddies they breezed through the competition. When declared the winners they jumped into each other's arms and the camera quickly cut away to Grylls whose facial expression made it clear he disapproved. The two guys were so happy to have beaten the other contestants they hugged Grylls and again, the man despised the show of manly affection. On the very next episode it was obvious the two gay guys, if allowed to continue in the game, would win the competition - not only were they handsome, athletically superior, intelligent but they were the team to beat. So Bear, the sole arbitrator of who would continue and who wouldn't, eliminated them.

The ultimate winners, chosen by Bear, were a ridiculous father and daughter team (http://youtu.be/06ulsH4JgS8) and roundly ridiculed by the press and media.

Grylls was called out publicly for his homophobia and his Christian bigotry and faded away for several months. In this new show he is courting big name male stars to garner credibility. Efron? Many back stories of his beard, Michelle Rodriguez aka Taylor Lautner's (paid) "ex". Look at the others on the show: Ben stiller (major homophobe), Tom Arnold (very public homophobe) and to round it off, Channing Tatum. All were picked to heighten Grylls lagging popularity.

  11. Very true @Mike Ryan. We LOATHE him here in the UK.

  12. @Mike Ryan Where can I find proof of Tom Arnold's homophobia. I've always admired his candor about his struggles with recovery but if he's a bigot I'm done with him.

  13. @Mike Ryan That is all fine and good and I don't doubt that what you say is true, but you must know that if a guy is young and "hot", nothing else abut him matters to most gay men......whereas if he is old and/or not "hot", he is persona non grata, regardless of what kind of person he is.

  14. Now that is one filthy hot queen's dream waiting to happen! Loved when Zac snuck in a kiss while Bear slept.
