Well, that didn't go so well.
After Donald Trump announced to the LGBTQ community that he was now a huuuge supporter of the cause and the community's newest ally, he probably expected some love in return. Sadly for him, it didn't go as planned.
Tuesday around 1:30pm ET, the presumptive GOP nominee (who was celebrating his 70th birthday) tweeted: “I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.”
A few minutes later, a hashtag was born.
#LGBTQHatesTrumpParty started trending around 2PM and the tweets usually involved GIFs or videos. Oh, the shade of it all.
From 5 to 8PM, #LGBTQHatesTrumpParty was the most used hashtag in the country. By 6pm, it peaked at almost 15,000 tweets.
As RuPaul would say: “In the great tradition of Paris is Burning, get out your library cards. Because reading is fundamental.”
Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.

Some in the community do like the Trump Party, however.
GOProud founder Chris Barron says he's the “most pro-gay Republican nominee ever.”
Conservative blogger Jim Hoft, who came out of the closet this week, says that “there is only one man who can lead this nation and protect all gays and all Americans. His name is Donald Trump.”
And a gay Trump voter posted on Reddit that “Twitter is currently ACTIVELY CENSORING #gaysfortrump, and boosting #LGBTQHatesTrumpParty. Twitter HATES conservative gays!”
