Alan Grayson Schools 'Real Time with Bill Maher' on the 'Occupy Wall Street' Protests: VIDEO

On Friday night's Real Time with Bill Maher, much-missed former Rep. Alan Grayson killed it with a clarfication of what the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests are about, for PJ Rourke and other panelists.

Said Grayson: "They're complaining about the fact that Wall Street wrecked the economy three years ago and nobody's been held responsible for that. Not a single person has been indicted or convicted for destroying 20% of our national net worth accumulated over the course of two centuries. They're upset about the fact that Wall Street has iron control over the economic policies of this country, and that one part is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street and the other party caters to them as well!"

Does 'Sharia Law' Have A Place In American Politics?

Sharia law, or the idea of it, has been playing an increasingly important role in this year's midterm elections, thanks in part to plans for a Muslim community center near Ground Zero. Some of the references to Sharia law have been hateful, while others illuminating, but all show that this concept moves in mysterious political ways.

Conservative leaders such as Newt Gingrich have warned that Sharia law is insinuating itself into our beloved American institutions. "We should have a federal law that says sharia law cannot be recognized by any court in the United States," he said last month, while discussing the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque," which he called "an effort to impose Sharia law."

Sharron Angle, the Republican Senate candidate from Nevada, also suggested last month that American towns Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas, which she says have large Islamic immigrant populations, had been overtaken by Sharia law.

"We're talking about a militant terrorist situation, which I believe isn't a widespread thing, but it is enough that we need to address, and we have been addressing it," said Angle, after being asked about "Muslims taking over the U.S."

"Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas are on American soil, and under Constitutional law. Not Sharia law. And I don't know how that happened in the United States," she opined. "It seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with allowing a foreign system of law to even take hold in any municipality or government situation in our United States."

Meanwhile, a group called "Veterans Against Jihad" recently threw itself into the crusade to "awaken American Citizens to Islam's Jihadist religious mandate." Clearly these views are incendiary, dangerous, and, as Dearborn Mayor John O'Reilly Jr. said in a letter to Angle, entirely off base.

Rep. Grayson's 'Taliban' Dan Webster Ad Panned For Audio Edits

Florida Rep. Alan Grayson's campaign commercial comparing Republican opponent Dan Webster to the Taliban hasn't gone over very well. It turns out that the meat of Grayson's commercial, Webster's "comments" that women should "submit" to their husbands, was taken out of context. Will this seal the Democrat's electoral fate?

Turns out Webster wasn't telling wives to "submit" in the speech; he was actually urging men to stop using the Bible to justify their beliefs. "I have a verse for my wife; I have verses for my wife," said Webster.

"Don't pick the ones that say, um, she should submit to me. That's in the Bible, but pick the ones that you're supposed to do. So instead, love your wife, even as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it, as opposed to wives submit yourself to your own husband."

The Orlando Sentinel has blasted Grayson's commercial, and wrote, "By twisting Webster's words, Grayson risks eroding some of the support he may have won from independent voters."

Clearly hoping to capitalize on the anger, the Webster campaign distributed a quote from the candidate's wife, Sandy, who called the Taliban ad "shameful."

"Mr. Grayson seems to have a problem telling the truth and no problem misleading the public," she said. "Dan has been an amazing husband and father, and the finest man I have ever known. Mr. Grayson should be ashamed of his nasty smears against my husband."

But is it truly a smear, or just an example of political expediency aimed at the heart of Webster's politics?

Watch: Alan Grayson on Anti-Muslim Propaganda, Bush and 9/11

Cenk Uygur and Rep. Alan Grayson discuss the carpetbombing of the news cycle by conservatives hoping to stir doubt about Obama with anti-Muslim propaganda inspired by the 'controversy' over the Park51 center.

Frustrated that Obama is being drawn into the anti-Muslim sentiment by having to proclaim he's a devoted Christian, Rep. Alan Grayson joins Uygur to remind everyone who really disgraced the people who died on 9/11 — the President who did nothing after receiving the memo that terrorists were plotting attacks on NYC and D.C.

Watch: Alan Grayson Slams GOP on Unemployment — 'May God Have Mercy on Your Souls'

Rep. Alan Grayson goes after Republican resistance to extending unemployment benefits:

"The Republicans have been after all three of those programs ever since 1935. They got welfare a few years ago, because that's poor people. They could jump on them. But unemployment and Social Security is middle-class people -- they haven't been able to get them, but it isn't because they're not willing to try...Now, I know what the Republicans are thinking. They're thinking why don't they just sell some stock...If they're in really dire straits, maybe they could take some of their art collection and send it off to the auctioneer. And if they're in deep, deep trouble maybe these unemployed can sell one of their yachts...And I will say this to the Republicans who have blocked this bill now for months and kept food out of the mouths of children. I will say to them now, may God have mercy on your souls."
