Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett: Vanity Fair, Demerol, Ryan O'Neal

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett appear on two separate covers for the September issue of Vanity Fair, being shipped to subscribers at random. They've also posted retrospective photo galleries on both MJ and FF. USA Today published a set of excerpts from the articles.

Murray The latest news from the investigation of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, is that Murray claims one of his aides gave Jackson a shot of Demerol which triggered cardiac arrest:

"Michael Jackson died after one of his aides gave him a shot of the painkiller Demerol, his personal doctor said. Dr Conrad Murray told police that he, himself, was asleep when Jackson was given the fatal dose. When the doctor woke up, the singer was dead, and he frantically tried to revive him, Dr Murray claims. It is believed that Dr Murray told police that earlier that day he had given Jackson a shot  of surgical anaesthetic Propofol - also known as Diprivan - but that he had woken up when the effects wore off and demanded more medication. The unwitting aide gave him the shot of Demerol which then triggered a massive heart attack."

Farrah_ryan And here's a creepy story about Ryan O'Neal from the Vanity Fair profile on Farrah:

"While it’s clear that O’Neal is no angel, he’s at least willing to cop to his own flaws. At one point, he describes himself as 'a hopeless father' and offers as evidence this anecdote from Fawcett’s funeral: 'I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,' Ryan told me. 'I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.' ... 'That’s our relationship in a nutshell,' Tatum said when I asked her about it. 'You make of it what you will.' She sighed. 'It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.'"

Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62

Actress Farrah Fawcett has died after a three-year battle with cancer:

Fawcett"Fawcett, 62, died at St. John's Medical Center in Santa Monica at 9:28 a.m. Thursday morning with her longtime love, Ryan O'Neal and her friend Alana Stewart by her side. O'Neal told reporters waiting outside the hospital this morning only that 'she's gone.'"

O'Neal to People: "She's gone. She now belongs to the ages. She's now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now...She was with her team when she passed ... Her eyes were open, but she didn't say anything. But you could see in her eyes that she recognized us."

Cancer Treatment Ends for Critically Ill Farrah Fawcett

Very sad:

"Fawcett now spends her days at home, often asleep. 'She stays in bed,' says [Ryan] O'Neal. 'It's a nice bed.' She receives visits from a few close friends – including fellow Charlie's Angels stars Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson and, when able, likes to watch TV, especially Dominick Dunne's cable program Power, Privilege and Justice.  Another visitor has been Fawcett and O'Neal's son Redmond, who, behind bars for a drug-related probation violation, on April 25 was allowed three hours at home with his mother to say what might be his final goodbye. In his jail-issued jumpsuit and in shackles, Redmond is seen in the NBC documentary climbing into his sleeping mother's bed and crying. 'Oh my gosh, my gosh,' he says as he hugs the frail figure next to him. 'Oh, my gosh.' ... A particularly cruel aspect of the disease is that Fawcett has now lost her iconic golden tresses. 'The hair is gone,' says O'Neal. 'Her famous hair. I have it at home. She didn't care. I rub her head. It's kind of fun, actually, this great, tiny little head. How she carried all that hair I'll never know. She doesn't have a vanity about it.'"

Report: Farrah Fawcett Unconscious, Critical in L.A. Hospital

70's icon Farrah Fawcett, who has battled cancer for years, is reportedly in grave condition at an L.A. hospital. Some reports say she is unconscious.

RadarOnline updated its report on the actress, who recently underwent a procedure in Germany, with statements from an anonymous producer and Fawcett's physician. The producer confirmed she was at the hospital while the physician's statement offered few details.

Redmond Said the producer: "Farrah has hope, and she hopes that others will continue to hold onto theirs. [Farrah wants to thank her fans who have] offered their constant support throughout her fight, as well as out of concern for the countless other cancer patients who have written her over the last two-and-a-half years in order to tell her that they are following her story in the hope that there is hope."

Said the physician: "She (Farrah) took a nine-hour flight right after that procedure. It turned out that the procedure caused a small amount of bleeding in one of the muscles of her abdomen, making a hematoma, which was quite painful....   And that pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer."

Meanwhile, sadly, Fawcett's son Redmond O'Neill was arrested for heroin possession on Sunday.
