Keith Olbermann Rips Indiana: The NCAA Must Move the Final Four — VIDEO

On his show last night, Keith Olbermann delivered a searing argument about why the NCAA must move the Final Four out of Indiana, arguing that sports has always been inextricably involved in politics.

Says Olbermann in his critique:

"The football league in this country and the college sports league in this country are tacitly supporting a law that allows those that have voluntarily chosen to join a group to discriminate and be prejudiced at the expense of those who may or may not have had any choice at all and the reality of course is not. The NCAA needs to move the Final Four out of Indianapolis and the NFL must warn Indiana and the Colts. Because ultimately you and I have a choice - do we participate in these laws, or do we do only as much as even the narrow prejudiced sports leagues of the 1930s, the 40s, and the 50s did. Opt out. Stay away, keep our business elsewhere until the laws of hate are gone."

He adds:

"Your choice is this. Do you endorse in this Indiana law a revival of the kind of hatred that opened the door for Jim Crow or do you repudiate it?"

The NCAA has thus far said that it will re-evaulate its relationship with the state going forward but it has resisted, despite calls from high-profile figures like Charles Barkley, removing this year's Final Four from Indiana.

Keith Olbermann Destroys Tony Dungy For Homophobic Michael Sam Comment: VIDEO

Former NFL coach-turned-NBC analyst Tony Dungy said this week that he would not have taken the NFL’s first openly gay player Michael Sam onto a team, “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it.”

WorstReferring to Sam’s homosexuality, Dungy added, “It’s not going to be totally smooth… things will happen.”

Soon after, commentator Keith Olbermann took Dungy to task by mentioning that in 2007 Dungy supported an Indiana same-sex marriage ban, and in 2009 Dungy also argued for the re-admission of dog-fighter Michael Vick into the NFL.

Considering his stance on Vick, The Orlando Sentinel’s George Diaz points out Dugger’s hypocrisy:

Vick’s crime was dog-fighting. Those who didn’t make the cut were shot, beaten and electrocuted. Three dogs were hanged, according to a report by the USDA inspector general, “by placing a nylon cord over a 2 x 4 that was nailed to two trees.” Three more dogs drowned after Vick’s crew put their heads in a 5 gallon bucket of water…

But Dungy has a serious problem on his hands trying to explain why a gay player is a bigger distraction as a guy who killed dogs. Since, you know, that wasn't a big story. #sarcasm…

Sam’s crime? He kissed a guy. On National TV, the day he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams…

“I believe in second chances for people who admit their mistakes and are committed to changing,” Dungy said…

But apparently Tony Dungy is not a big believer in first chances for someone who has made no mistakes, and all he is asking for is an opportunity.

In an e-mail statement responding to Dungy’s comments, GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said, “Talent is not a distraction. Michael Sam is first and foremost an excellent football player. That Tony Dungy can only see Michael Sam for his sexual orientation reflects how far out of touch Dungy has fallen with the NFL, which values a player because of his skill, not because of who he loves.”

Chris Kluwe: Tim Tebow and I are Being Shut Out of the NFL for Similar Reasons — VIDEO

Former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe joined Keith Olbermann last night to talk about his claims that he was released from the Vikings because of his gay activism. Kluwe told Olbermann that the NFL doesn't want players speaking out on anything.

"If head coaches had their way, it would be, players wake up, they think about football, they go practice, they go to sleep, and they dream about football. And that would be all that there is."

Kluwe suggested that evangelical Christian lightning rod Tim Tebow is being shut out for the same reasons:

"As much as we are polar opposites on the things we stand for, Tebow is the exact same way...There are backup quarterbacks in the NFL right now that Tebow is certainly better than — he could fill a role with a team. But because he brings this other stuff with him, just like I bring my other stuff with me, teams look at it like, 'Well, we don’t want it. We don’t want players speaking out. We don’t want players doing anything other than football.'"

Kluwe also explains the timeline in which he was shut down by the organization for speaking out about marriage equality.

Keith Olbermann Exposes Johnny Weir's Disappointing Position on Gays and the Sochi Games: VIDEO

Following his blistering condemnation of Russia's anti-gay laws, the position of Sochi Games officials, and the IOC, Keith Olbermann welcomed Johnny Weir into his studio to ask the gay Olympian what he thinks about how we should be responding to what's happening in Russia.

Weir, a self-described "true patriot and spokesperson for their country" argued staunchly against "a boycott of any kind", saying that it would hurt Olympic athletes. He also argued against boycotts of Russian goods - specifically vodka, arguing that it hurts Russian workers in factories.

Weir, who made the bizarre choice of wearing a Russian military outfit to the interview, was given the chance many times by Olbermann to take a stand as a gay man on the issue, but when pressed to the corner, finally dealt this illogical quote:

"I live in New Jersey, so I'm not even still considered an equal human. I wasn't considered an equal in this country, so why should I stay away from another country that doesn't consider me equal, and why should I not show the world what I worked hard for?"

Replied Olbermann:

"There's really not much of an answer for that other than your perspective on it."
