It's that time of the year again when we look back and list our favorite tracks of the year. Given the plethora of amazing music on the disco and house scene this year, this was no easy task. Nevertheless below is a list (in descending order) of my favorite tracks that I played while spinning at our Occupy The Disco parties here in New York.
While it's actually the Bixel Boys remix of Kiesza's acclaimed lead single, 'Hideaway' that holds the #10 spot on my list (listen after the jump), I'd be remiss to not also include the fantastic music video that accompanied the original cut. Whether it's the rhythm that hooked you, or the chorus of ooh's and aahs, 'Hideaway's brilliance lies in it's simplicty; which is echoed in the music video. It's a refreshing to watch in a world where the opulence of Gaga and Beyoncé seem to reign.

We've been closely following Kiesza since her debut single 'Hideaway' got our attention this past spring. Her follow-up single 'Giant In My Heart' continued to build on the singer's success as she set out on a rigorous media tour to support her quickly rising star. Over the past weekend, Kiesza released 'No Enemiesz' to tease the release of her album, Sound of a Woman, on October 21st.
Kiesza: 'No Enemiesz'
Kiesza certainly picks up where she left off in 'Hideaway' and 'Giant In My Heart' with 'No Enemiesz.' The track has a pulsing house beat complemented by piano keys in the chorus, all wrapped together with Kiesza's soulful vocals. The singer claims her debut album will contain not only dance and house influenced tracks, but you'll also hear grunge, rock and folk on Sound of a Woman. We're certainly excited to hear her debut release next month – but in the interim, be sure to catch her performing on Ellen on September 24th.

Punky pixie siren Kiesza - whom we've mentioned a time or two - picked up her six string for a stunning acoustic cover of Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box." She doesn't claim it the way Johnny Cash did Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt", but rather softens the harshness and dissonance to make it something hauntingly beautiful and different of her own.

Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza brought her 90's throwback "Hideaway" to Hollywood Boulevard (complete with arrival in a Delorean and a Chewbacca dance routine) before strutting into Jimmy Kimmel, where she also performed her new single "Giant in My Heart".
Check it out along with a new remix of "Giant in My Heart" from Belgian House duo Arches, AFTER THE JUMP...
