Kirk Cameron Says He Was 'Stoned' and 'Crucified' for Expressing Anti-Gay Views: VIDEO

Cameron

Kirk Cameron told Liberty University students last week to be brave and speak up when asked about their views on homosexuality and other topics, Right Wing Watch reports.

He said conservative Christians shouldn’t be “wussing out” when confronted by questions about homosexuality should deliver a message of truth in love” in order to “see people in a right relationship with God, helped and healed and whole.”

Cameron claimed he was “drug out to the public square and stoned so to speak" and "crucified" after he had “blasphemed the God of Political Correctness" by expressing his anti-gay views to Piers Morgan.

Kirk Cameron: God 'Is' the Platform of the United States - VIDEO

Cameron

Kirk Cameron whined about the Democratic Party platform 'God' kerfuffle to a wingnut crowd that included Rick Santorum, Harry Jackson, Jim Garlow, and Rick Scarborough on a nationwide simulcast from the Family Research Council broadcast over the weekend called "iPledge Sunday: A Call to Faith, Family, and Freedom" calling on Christians to make their voices heard on election day.

"Our forefathers would be rolling over in our graves to hear what we are discussing - the sanctity of life - really? The definition of marriage - really? Religious freedom - really? They would be appalled."

Kirk Cameron: 'I Respect' Todd Akin — VIDEO

Cameron

Former child star turned right-wing religious activist Kirk Cameron defended Todd Akin in a CNN appearance this morning:

“He clearly is a pro-life advocate, and for that, I respect him...He said that he misspoke and that he misphrased something and that he apologized...I’m the kind of person that believes that I would like to be evaluated by my entire career and my entire life, not two words that I would misspeak and then later apologize for,” he said. “So he’s in a tough spot.”

In related news, Paul Ryan made a "not brief" call to Akin yesterday. Didn't stop him from putting his video out though.

Kirk Cameron Rejects Request to Meet with Bullied LGBT Teens

Kirk Cameron's spokesman Mark Craig replied to a request from the Youth Caucus at Garden State Equality asking Cameron to sit down with them after his visit to Ocean Grove, NJ where he'll discuss the Bible's stance against gay marriage.

CameronWrote Craig to GSE's Corey Bernstein:

I would normally just write a simple reply, "Thanks for your invitation, however Kirk's schedule will not permit," but because you have taken some time to share some of your feelings, Kirk asked me to personally thank you on his behalf for your kind invitation and is very sorry he can not attend because of the schedule that weekend. I also want to thank you for taking the time to write and share your heart in your letter.

For this reason, I want to share this thought with you, from someone who sees and works with Kirk almost everyday of the year - I promise you his goal is not one of trying to hurt people in any way, in fact it is just the opposite. He has a concern for their well being - not only now, but eternally. He goes out to share a positive message through events like this weekend and I assure you he will only be presenting a positive/ inspiring message.

I would like to suggest if you really are interested in Kirk's thoughts on the matter, you can listen online to the interviews and comments Kirk has shared where he was given ample time to communicate his heart and thoughts. I hope you can attend the event and see for yourself.

Bullied Teens Seek Kirk Cameron's Ear

KirkCameronTeenNJFormer Growing Pains heartthrob Kirk Cameron owes his fame and fortune to teenagers. Now that he's working for the hateful National Organization for Marriage, will the 41-year old stay true to the demographic by meeting with teenaged victims of anti-LGBT victims?

The conservative Christian Post passes on word that members from the Youth Caucus at Garden State Equality are asking for Cameron to sit down with them after his visit to Ocean Grove, NJ to praise the bible's alleged prohibition on same-sex marriage.

"In a kind, respectful and constructive way, we'd like to talk to you about the pain your words about being LGBT have personally caused me and other LGBT youth," wrote Corey Bernstein, 17, in a letter to Cameron. "Words casting negative judgments about LGBT people not only perpetuate prejudice in our wider society, but also hurt LGBT youth in particular. Some of your public comments about being LGBT have devastated us LGBT youth. We yearn to grow up in a world that provides us dignity and safety. That is our simple, most heartfelt dream."

Cameron's team won't say whether or not he'll meet with the teens, but it's sounding like a no. Meanwhile, the Youth Caucus will join their allies from Ocean Grove United in a silent protest outside Cameron's speech tomorrow.

GLAAD Responds To Kirk Cameron's NOM Video

Kirk2012

Calling Kirk Cameron's anti-gay politics "outdated and irrelevant," GLAAD president Herndon Graddick admonished the actor for teaming up with the National Organization for Marriage and claiming that children can only thrive — "incubate" was the word he used — when raised by heterosexual parents.

"Kirk Cameron and the anti-gay activists at NOM are making a claim that Americans know to be false," said Graddick. "This rhetoric won't work anymore. Communities across this country love and cherish their LGBT neighbors, friends and family members. This includes people in families headed by LGBT people. Their implication that LGBT couples can’t create loving and stable homes is not only outdated and irrelevant; it’s designed specifically to hurt those families.”

And, as we learned today, almost all the major American medical associations agree with GLAAD's assessment.
