Everything You Need To Know For The Return of 'True Blood'

HBO’s long-running vampire series True Blood is sort of like the little girl in that Longfellow poem: When it’s good, it’s very, very good, and when it’s bad it’s horrid.

After six wildly uneven seasons, the faeries, vampires, witches, mediums, shifters, werewolves and who-knows-what-else of Bon Temps are back for one last hurrah. The seventh and final season of the show premieres Sunday at 9 p.m.

Though True Blood hasn’t always maintained consistent quality, it’s at least stayed compulsively watchable. The perfect frothy summer viewing, it doesn’t shy away from gross-out horror, melodramatic romance or lots and lots of gratuitous sex. It’s amassed a sizable gay following not only because the central conceit positions vampires as a loose allegory for the LGBT community, but also for showcasing several same-sex couplings and enough hunky man-flesh to rival most Channing Tatum movies.

In case you need a refresher on True Blood’s myriad characters and storylines ahead of Sunday’s premiere, we’ve got a quick reminder of where we left some of our favorites, AFTER THE JUMP

Stephen Moyer Wants To Have A Sex Scene With Alexander Skarsgard

True Blood stud Stephen Moyers, soon to be seen as Captain Von Trapp to Carrie Underwood's Maria in a live TV version of The Sound of Music, sat down with The Huffington Post recently and shared one particular aspiration he and his fanged co-star, Alexander Skarsgard, shared for their characters' trajectories, particularly how they hoped they might intertwine before the show's final season:

Do you have your own twisted fantasy about what you hope to happen?
Alex (Skarsgard) and I have been pushing for an Eric-Bill love scene for a long time, but they always said no. But our dream would be for my football team, West Ham United, to play his Swedish team, and would end up in some match-up that Bill and Eric happen to be able to get to.

That would be pretty great, but I don’t think Sookie would be to happy about that.
I’m sure Sookie would find a way to be part of the action. She usually does.

Six Unforgettable Gay Moments From 'True Blood'

Jasonvid

BY BOBBY HANKINSON

It’s no secret that HBO’s True Blood has built a solid gay fan base. Yes, there are parallels between the vampires' quest for civil rights and the current climate for LGBT Americans. But, beyond that, the over-the-top series serves up plenty of action with an abundance of beefcake. Don’t let the vampires, werewolves and witches fool you; this series is not for kids.

In honor of the sixth season premiere Sunday on HBO, we’ve rounded up six of our favorite gay moments from the show’s previous seasons.

More, AFTER THE JUMP...

Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer Suck for the Crew

Skarsgard

BlackBook describes some horseplay on the True Blood set in a new interview with Alexander Skarsgard:

Before the cameras begin rolling, Skarsgård walks up to his mark in the center of the room, Moyer kneels in front of him—his character is picking something up off the ground when the shot begins—and the director watches them from his chair in front of a camera monitor. While waiting in their places, Skarsgård looks down at his costar and says dryly, “It looks like he’s sucking me off,” to which Moyer responds by bobbing his head vigorously. Skarsgård closes his eyes and starts moaning with the intensity of a slash-fiction hero, after which Moyer stands up and wipes imaginary fluids from his mouth with the back of his hand. He scans the crowd and after taking a slight bow says, “And the Emmy goes to… ” A crew member whispers to no one in particular, “Now that’s what I call ‘Action.’
