ANOTHER TOWLEROAD LINGUISTICS ExCLUSIVE:
Madonna, whose Re-Invention Tour is making waves around the country, has adopted the Hebrew name Esther, according to her latest interview with 20/20. She says she wants to attach herself to the energy of a different name. The Hebrew meaning of the name is “Star” which is perhaps the most predictable meaning we could have come up with to which Madonna should attach herself.
The Biblical meaning of the name is a bit more intriguing, meaning “secret” or “hidden”.
Towleroad set out to investigate what might be “secret” or “hidden” in Esther. Actually, what we found is shocking, but true. The T-Mobile phone service has a text messaging element called predictive text. When you type in a text message, its predictive intelligence picks the word you are going to type, as you type, based on a dictionary of terms in the phone’s memory.
Well, it seems that what’s “secret” or “hidden” about the word “ESTHER” is that the predictive text you get when you type it into the T-Mobile phone network spells out this word: “DRUGS”.
What’s in a name? Don’t ask, just try it.
I know, it’s a Friday. Give me a break. At least it’s not “APPLE”.
