A full genome scan of sexual orientation in men has found several regions of genes that influence male homosexuality based on studies of men in families with multiple gay brothers. Identical strings of DNA in three regions were shared by 60% of gay brothers in the study. A fourth region was influential to sexual orientation only if inherited from the mother.
Researcher Brian Mustanski: “The research confirms biological origins of homosexuality while underscoring that there is no single ‘gay gene.'”
