Nick Demers, an Edmonton, Alberta teenager who punched a man wearing “flamboyant” attire at last year's Gay Pride festival, has apologized: “I'm sorry about the crime that I committed. I wish it wouldn't have happened. I feel like what I've done has indeed hurt more than one person.” Demers will serve a six-month conditional sentence that includes house arrest for the assault.
