The UK's Daily Mail reports that following George Michael's embarrassing tabloid appearance over the weekend which detailed his Hampstead Heath sexual encounter with an unemployed van driver from Brighton, the plans for a civil partnership between Michael and longtime partner Kenny Goss are on hold.
Michael had been telling media in recent months that he and Goss would tie the knot in a civil partnership soon, though no date had been set.
A source told the Daily Mail: “They are reassessing their relationship at the moment so there are no immediate plans. Things are very much up in the air.” As far as the civil partnership ceremony goes, the source said: “They do not feel that it is relevant now.”
In the past, Michael has said that he and Goss have an open relationship: “Gay relationships are a bit different. I'm sure we'll be allowed to roam if we want to. But we love each other dearly.”
And Goss told the press following Michael's most recent cottaging incident: “George is not going to say anything today. This is behind us. That is everything we are going to say on the subject. We are getting on with the rest of our lives.”
Apparently that doesn't include a civil partnership, at least for the near future.
