Police make arrest of schoolteacher in JonBenet Ramsey case: “The teacher, John Mark Karr, a 41-year-old father of three, told that police that he had not intended to kill the girl, but to kidnap her and demand a ransom of $118,000, the head of Thai Immigration police, Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul, said at the news conference in Bangkok Thursday afternoon, as reporters scrambled to keep up with developments.”
Karr: “I loved JonBenet very much. I loved JonBenet and she died accidentally. Her death was an accident.” (video)
John Ramsey statement: “…the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet’s death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder district attorney’s office prior to Patsy’s death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today’s development almost 10 years after our daughter’s murder.”
