Who knew virtuoso graphic designer Chip Kidd was also an aspiring impressionist?
Check out the “trailer” he created for his new novel, The Learners which is a hysterical exercise in form and content. Yes, it sounds weird, and it is.
In the trailer Kidd interprets The Wicked Witch of the West interpreting Psalms 23, Jimmy Stewart interpreting Eminem's “Lose Yourself”, Helen Hayes doing “Janet Jackson's “Nasty,” and a new-born baby hamster interpreting Hamlet, Act II, Scene VI.
But I think Kidd's interpretation of Peter Lorre interpreting Sheena Easton's “My Sugar Walls” is my favorite.
Not-to-miss clip AFTER THE JUMP…
I think I must run out and get a copy of The Learners now. I think this visual-trailers-for-books trend is a good thing.
