Biloa Ayissi, a journalist in Cameroon and the manager of Nouvelle Afrique, has been sent to prison for six months for naming government minister Minister Gregoire Owona as a homosexual, News24 reports:
“Owona sued Ayissi as part of a case dating back to 2006 known as the ‘listing affair', in which several newspapers published names of public personalities they claimed were homosexuals. Ayissi was also forced to pay a fine of $2 335 as well as give a symbolic franc in damages to the minister.”
The “listing affair” was labeled a “witch hunt” and named over 50 high-profile figures including former tennis prop Yannick Noah as gay.
