A broad daylight stabbing of two transgender women (there are conflicting reports as to the gender identity of the victims – when confirmed I will update) in Washington D.C. has left one dead and one in the hospital wounded but in stable condition. The stabbing occurred down the street from a center that provides services to transgender people, MyFoxDC reports:
"The crime scene was an alarming sight for residents who live on QStreet. One neighbor told FOX 5 they saw the two victims running fromtheir attacker, and that one of them collapsed on the sidewalk. Thatvictim later died. 'He said he couldn't breathe, 'I can'tbreathe,'' said Frenzell Alexander, a neighbor. 'He came down 4thstreet and was gasping for breath and was bleeding from his neck.' LateWednesday, police announced that 21-year-old Joshua Mack of Clinton,Maryland was pronounced dead at Howard University Hospital just after 3p.m. The second victim was taken to a local hospital and admitted instable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Police arewithholding the identity of the second victim, who was a witness to themurder. D.C. Police say the attacker is an unknown man in hisearly 30s. He was last seen wearing all black and running in theopposite direction on Q Street."
Police have offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
